Christopher ward and other online only watches

I live in Austin and I'm thinking about christopher ward. Specifically the sealander gmt. But I hate getting a watch sight unseen. How do I get one in my hands before pulling the trigger?

Anyone in the Austin Texas area have one?

I don't live nearby, but I own one of their watches, and I had the opportunity to see the entire collection in person this year. I must say, they are all exceptional. If the case size is right for you, I highly recommend getting one. You won't regret it.

Agree with @CityZen … amazing watches and an unmatched return policy. I own the C60 and love it. Order with confidence, just don’t “wear” it (the devil is in the details of their policy). 😂😂😂

They have free returns

If you can, get thee to a Windup Watch Fair. NYC is in a month. You'll get hands on with Chris Ward, Baltic, Farer, Formex, and a ton of others plus a chance to buy instantly.

·

Search online to see if your area has a local watch group. I'd think Austin or another local city would. I participate in two in my city and we have regular meetups and I get an opportunity to try on just about any watch you could imagine. We also have various brands sponsor events and present their watches.

I have bought more watches “sight unseen” than I ever did in person. Way more! When buying another piece, I read everything I can find about it and closely scrutinize any reviews I can find.

Doing this I have had very few bad experiences. And if it’s a quality company like CW, there is no risk to speak of.

Pull the trigger.

My GMT is a perfect size and bracelet...thought it was going to be too small..but it is on point...that white one is a killer! Want to trade!? Ha!

I have that exact watch. It is of excellent quality.

Yes, very nice watch. I have one with camel leather. 39mm should be good for any wrist size. Get a green dial, suggestion

I've had the C63 GMT (Polar) like in your pic for over a year. I can't imagine you being disappointed with it.

Do not have a CW, but I'd argue 90% of my collection is microbrands purchased online.

In the begining I based everything off comparing stated dimensions between my Orient Mako and the watch I was considering. Then I'd go to my local Macy's and try on other similar case heights diameters, etc.

Hasnt steered me wrong yet.

Remember that CW offers a 60/60 warranty: 60 days to return, 60 month warranty period.

So as long as you dont damage it - if you find you don’t like it, you can always get a full refund (you may have to pay for return shipping, I’m not sure).

A couple of things to think about.

  1. I second finding a watch group. It is a great chance to try any number of different brands especially if you have a couple of active members who do a lot of buying and selling. Another route as others have said would be to get to a Windup Watch Fair.

  2. Yes, CW does have the 60/60 but a return for a full refund will require the watch to be in new unworn condition. It is intended for you to inspect the watch upon delivery and think about it for a while before returning it. Not to wear it for two months and then decide it isn't for you.

  3. Returning isn't a problem with the 60/60 but getting back any import duty paid might be. CW is now collecting import duty at the point of sale (which is nice because you now know up front what you are in for) which might make getting the duty paid back easier but I don't know. Hopefully someone with direct knowledge on this point will chime in and let us know. For reference, import duty on a C63 GMT will probably be somewhere between $80 and $100.

All of that being said I love CW and the watches are very high quality. I currently own 5 with one on the way when the CWF LE is completed.

I own 5 Christopher Wards. An obvious fan! Exceptional bang for your bucks. Their customer service and return policy is great too. You won’t regret the decision.

·

Agree with all the positive comments about Christopher Ward. Just worth being a bit cautious about the 60 day return - you can only really return in an “unworn” condition..

·

Just buy it. I felt the same as you, and I bought one from them because they offer 60 day returns. I think I wound up keeping it and I love it. They are a high-quality watch at a good price.

Love the watch! This is the non-GMT C63 Sealander and watch looks great in real life. I was back n forth with this watch and a Jack Mason and ultimately decided on this watch because of the Sellita Sw-200-1 movement and the cleaner look. The lume is really good as well. Happy Watch hunting!
