Weird signs watch madness is out of control

I got an email from my bank today - all the large incomings and outgoings over the last year have raised their suspicions I am up to no good (drug dealing / money laundering.. who knows?!)

I had to answer a detailed set of questions that basically all amounted to “that was a watch” “that was also a watch” “yes another watch”..

Hopefully they are ok with these answers - or else otherwise they have threatened to close my bank account!

Has your watch obsession ever resulted in unexpected outcomes?! 😬

I think the bank may be in cahoots with you wife trying to shit you down. She might have called as an anonymous tip off 😅

·

My Mrs knew I had a serious addiction when we met, now she's hooked too... that was unexpected, & expensive 😭🤣

·

Wow!

Are you spending across borders a lot?

·

cant imagine what was the bank thinking about that answer 🤣🤣

·

Standing next to you. 2 Lange, 6 Rolex, and more. Making me look good. Thanks.

No letters of suspicion but….

When I set up the business accounts for Third Watch there was 1 form for who I am, what do I do. There was 4 forms making me pinky promise I’m in no way connected to the marijuana business. Since it’s legal in Michigan but still federally illegal banks can’t touch the money.

I once had my account locked when I was trying to buy a watch because I had too many transactions in one day. It wasn't the dollars spent just the number of charges that day.

The charge that locked the account wasn't the $7,500 watch purchase I tried to make. The offending charge that caught their attention was a less than $13 reoccurring charge from Netflix. I had to spend half an hour on the phone at the AD and go 3 levels up with my bank before anyone would unlock my account.

This all happened on my birthday while trying to buy my first brand new, luxury wach. Funny and embarrassing at the same time.

Whoa! Are you making your purchases in cash, that you’re withdrawing large amounts? I can see the bank doing that.

Bank never asked me about large withdrawals as I put everything on my AMEX, then pay AMEX at the end of the month, which shows the paper trail.

My sister was once asked about a large withdrawal she was making. She told them it was for a watch, and that was the end of it.

You should send pictures of the watch with details or why you picked up the watch, with all the specs. Go all out watch nerd on them! 😂

I have had a similar experience with my bank a few years ago. My collecting went into overdrive when I sold gold coins I had been collecting over a number of years. The sales proceeds came in, a day later they were gone. I bought a Datejust, an OP & a Speedmaster initially & then added further Omega & Tudor watches in the coming months. I had a hellish time making payments at the point of sale. The bank continually blocked payment until I called to confirm it was me trying to make the purchase. They also wanted to know what I was buying.

Eventually I received a similar email asking me to state what I had previously bought & the source of the funds.

It’s fine now but it was annoying at the time.

Is that picture your collection?

The bank should mind their business and let the government do the surveillance 🤪 I love how I once had to answer something like "do you support any international terror groups" in different wording when opening an account or something. I guess they don't catch many "bad guys" that way. It's not like they are Billie Eilish or whatever 😅

·

Cheeky who do they think they are,I had something similar with my brother paying me back money he owed me,they think being forced to let them mind our money so they can make money off it isn't bad enough, now we get questioned on what where buying fucks it got to do with them, just get rich off us and shut up

·

I’m relatively poor owing to Canadian exchange rate and my Canadian 37% income tax rate…. 💸

..but my roller coaster bank account (watch driven as well) seems to alarm nobody and bank keeps upping my credit card limit and reminding I can buy with no exchange rate dings 😂.

Bank motto: Spend more you crazy diamond! Oh and maybe some diamond watches!!!

In my case it’s just spending too much, but Vancouver so banks are so used to money laundering nothing ever raises eyebrows 🙄

Too much enabling! 😂

·

How the hell are you affording a collection like that ! Congratulations 🥳 I am just jealous as hell 😂 Love your collection:)

Just all currencies are basically digital and centralised. De centralised permissionless blockchain currency is way superior to hold your hard won cash . No one is watching your spending is all….

Ah it’s just a google image! I have been through a lot of Patek, Rolex and cartier mind you…

·

If they are not for you or with you they sure are against you.

·

Yup !!! A lot of my wife asking “ Is that a New Watch “ ? And me saying “ Naw …. I’ve had this old thing for Years “ !!! Lol 😆

·

when I paid the deposit (or tried to) for my Ming it was an absolute mess. Sending CHF in the middle of the night to Malaysia seemed odd so they blocked all my transactions (WTF?). After that I opened an easily accessible emergency account elsewhere and wrote down all direct debits and scheduled transfers.... just in case 😉
