The thing about certain watches, is they suit very well to a certain kind of photography. We can echo advertising (though I have yet to see Omega SMP owners chain themselves up in tuxedos or stood in the shower for their daily wrist shot) or part of a watch‘s legend (Speedy owners yeeting themselves into space, or even cramming themselves into a tin can, also quite absent) or simply show the watch in different environments.
Yesterday, I was wearing a steel dive watch at a specific location — and whilst my watch is not an Omega or Rolex, or even a homage thereof atm (though it has hints of the P.O. in its dial layout, and vintage dive watches with its aluminium bezel) it did call out for a quick wrist shot. I got quite a decent one, and as usual did a little gentle editing to make the shot look its best. A bit like rubbing your glasses polishing cloth over your timepiece really. Then I got up to cape cod equivalent standards.
But then, how to present such a fun shot?
Here I present, in reverse order, straight from camera edits, airline catalogue, and what I am calling ‘Skyfall’:
I’ve already mentally started work on a novel titled ‘Twelve, Nine, Six’ just so it can get on the cover lol.

Tremendous pics! Way beyond my skill set. I know that building well. As an armed cop in the nineties we used to respond to alarm calls there. Needless to say we never got past the re reception area!
Still waiting on a Ray 2 in the post. Mako 2 my next purchase.
The armed police outside Downing Street when I wandered through there as well were a little moody looking. I even took off my sunglasses. No wrist shot for that. Odd, as in the past most armed police I met were very sensible and friendly even — exactly what is needed I feel.
I am quite loving my Mako II, my wife bought and chose it for me, and it fits so well.

As to skill set… well, it’s in the editing to an extent. And framing and taking enough shots. Here’s the ones that weren’t so good because of matching focus:
In short, a lot comes down to camera — I am lucky, my iPhone has a decent set of optics on it — and I bet if you played around a bit you would be getting decent shots too. It’s a hobby in itself really, just one that crosses over with watches. :)
Great photos. You are skilled in both photography and writing. And great watch despite beeing neither Omega nor Rolex. Have a great 2023 both you and @Guvnor64 .

Thanks!
You too.
Maybe I will finally finish a novel I can put my own name on, make a million selling it to Hollywood, and host a WatchCrunch SpyWatch party on the banks by Vauxhall for a parade of wrist shots. That would be fun I reckon.

Once you finish twiddling bezels, telling the time, and polishing them… what else is there to do but take pictures?
