What do you think of the new Vero Smokey Bear watches

They really chose their timing well! Seriously, they've captured the necessary outdoorsy retro spirit splendidly. And it's under 39mm!!!!!!

Thank you for not saying Smokey the Bear, which is incorrect. I sort of object to the newspeak term wildfires, though I am pretty sure he did start saying that instead of "forest fires" some twenty years or so ago. And I'm a little sick of triangles where a 12 should be. But a bang-up job otherwise.

I have found old adds where he is referred to as Smokey the Bear but my understanding is that Smokey Bear is the correct version.

His name is Smokey Bear. It's intuitively obvious from his picture that he is , in fact, a bear.

"Only you can prevent forest fires" was the slogan from 1947 until 2001 when it was updated to wild fires.

And I like the watch in the 1944 version.

I like it and 10% of price goes to the forest service. Just not sure I want to spend the money right now.

The 44 is the one to get if you ask me.

Ok but they should’ve gone 40mm with both instead of 38mm. I like the movement but that size is gonna turn a lot of folks off

Filson does a lot of Smokey Bear merch , I was wondering initially if the watch was also put out by Filson of Seattle !?

Not that I know of.

Some research I found indicates that Filson teamed with Shinola on a watch about 7 years ago. The cost is more than double. It is also quartz where the Vero is mechanical.

I’m in. If you can put Snoopy or Spidey or Black Panther on a watch, why not Smokey Bear? …and Smokey is cooler!

I like it but not at that price. I just made an expensive watch purchase. I have to behave for a bit.

I've wanted to buy a watch from them. Their 10 yr no questions asked warranty is highly attractive. But still waiting on a design I like.

Trying to resist novelty watches for marquee pursuits then this comes along to tempt the former conservation corp firefighter in me.

This has the potential to be to Wildland Firefighters what William Wood is to the more urban Fire Service.

Also pretty cool for New Mexico watch enthusiasts, home of Smokey's Capitan Mountains origin story.

Gonna put it on my 'search for it preowned one year from now' list.

I prefer the '64. It is a little less gimmicky. But I have to say - they have the specifications right.

The ‘64 is the one. I want one, but the postage to UK will kill it as a proposition… unless they want TER to review one (hint hint)
