An interesting post as I have often felt the same when buying watches that are more military like. Here’s my opinion:
Watch passed down to you? Perfectly fine!
Got a watch that military members and civilian wear (G Shocks, An old Rolex Sub, Marathons)? They’re great watches! Wear them!
Got a watch specifically meant for military people (Take that SAS Explorer II for example)? Eh, maybe? I mean, I guess if your family was in it, then it’s fine. But I’d personally never wear it.
One of those watches with the logo of a branch on it? Sure, why not. Go support your favorite branch
But above all else, try and be active with them! Go jog, lift weights, do kickboxing, anything! They are meant for an active lifestyle so go live it! Don’t let them sit on a dormant wrist it’s whole life or in a box. They are meant for scratches and future repairs
Tried to get the finishing in between the lugs, but camera wouldn’t cooperate. Already got a scratch on it (Whoops) but because it’s titanium, it just polished it a bit
I expect this it be a watch that looks better the more you scratch it
Depends. I personally find in house, or more obscure generic brands, to be interesting if they are any good. Orient has in-house movements and from what I understand they’re good. Vostok has in-house movements too, but they’re pretty lousy in terms of accuracy. FTP has a range of generic USA built quartz movements which I also find interesting
