SMP300 Bracelet Opinions

I have been considering this watch for my next purchase. To those who own or have worn it extensively, is the bracelet really as bad as the YouTube reviewers make it seem? Has anyone gone with any after market bracelets that look good? Thank you in advance. First post here and excited to be a part of the community.

I should add that I have tried it on but only at a store. It felt fine to me but I’m more wondering how it’s been for people who have spent a lot of time with it because I’ve heard a lot of complaints. Thank you for the welcome!

I think the issue is no micro adjustments on the bracelet. Mine was too tight, so I put it on an aftermarket mesh from B and R Bands and it looks/works great!

Yes, for that money, the bracelet should be much better. Rare case of buy it on the rubber strap.

·

The problem is the bracelet has no taper. I try to only wear it in the winter and even then it doesn’t fit well.

·

I have recently (about 3-4 months ago) bought the same model with the original bracelet. I’m new to the ‘watch world’ so my experience is limited but like you I saw mixed views on the bracelet. I still went with it though and find it extremely comfortable to wear, but that’s just me!

·

I would not call it a bad bracelet. It's extremely sturdy and well made with tight tolerances. The design is heavily 90s inspired, which makes it look outdated. It doesn't taper from the Lugs to the clasp. This doesn't look that elegant.

I own the Sea master for almost 5 years now. I recently changed the bracelet for a Sailcloth rubber strap. Now I think the watch looks perfect.

Don't take watch YouTube to serious. They need to find points to criticize for clicks.

I really like the bracelet. Wears very well for me. 😀

That watch is a stunner. Am sure you will love it

I am not sure what the hate is for SMP bracelet.. fits perfectly.. I have no issues.. for summers I have it on OEM rubber starp.

Mine has an adjustable bracelet. You push a button located at the clasp, and slide the bracelet in or out depending on how you need it to fit.

Are you sure that yours isn't the same?

·

Have no issues with mine. It’s an integral part of the classic SMP look. The latest one has on the fly adjustment, I don’t care about taper. Wears very comfortably.

·

I personally like the bracelet a lot.

Yes it is thick and doesn't taper, but neither of these things make it a bad bracelet.

I often switch between Rubber, leather and Milanese straps on mine, but always end up wearing it most on the factory bracelet.

It's all personal choice, but I think the bracelet works well on this watch and gets unwarranted hate.

·

Its actually a very well made bracelet thats comfortable and has really fine tolerances. The new ones have a microadjustment that makes it easy for changing weather.

The problem is how dated it looks. Yes, it's iconic, but it's just incredibly passe and makes the watch look dated.

I bought mine on the rubber strap and got the AD to throw in an Omega black and grey nato in addition to the discount I wrangled.

·

Thank you all for your replies.

·

I’ve got this model in Green, bracelet is very comfortable, it’s a bit of a marmite bracelet but out of my Watches it is the most comfortable and I like it. If you are buying from an AD if your a bit cheeky and ask for a discount or the Rubber strap for free they will most likely throw it in, they did with me and a few of my friends who bought thr same model

It has more articulation than a sub or PO bracelet and is thinner than both. People hating on it for being cheap are tweaking. Unless its purely looks, cuz this thing is solid af.

Bingo! This bracelet is NOT was light years ahead of its Rolex competitors of the same era (1990’s) in terms of construction but no micro-adjustments, aesthetically it’s hasn’t aged too well

(a bit of a taper would have been nice).

·

I had a 2004 model and the bracelet was fine, has this one changed?

·

I’ve had two Omega watches and the bracelets were both very good. The bracelet links for Omega are on par with anything else in the same price range. The issue for me, as a non Rolex fan, is Rolex clasps are industry best. It’s hard to beat their micro adjustment clasps.🤔

I actually like the Omega style because it is unique! 🔥

I’ll be honest here….might get some slack, but the bracelet did feel cheap, but so did the watch. I love the James Bond blue one, went to try it on at Omega, then went to Breitling, then to Tudor, and then to Mayors to try on the Rolex Sub…..out of all the “luxury” watches I tried on….the Rolex Sub felt like the only legitimate one and I’m not a Rolex fan either, actually far from it! I collect affordable pieces, but the Rolex was the only watch that felt worth the price unfortunately.

Well at least one person agrees with you. Of all of those you mention, I truly feel only Rolex is worth anywhere close to the retail price. Don't get me wrong, I really love some Omegas....but they aren't Rolex quality for me. And I really don't like Tudors at all.

·

The bracelet is excellent. I like the way it feels and looks. For me it is just as good as the oyster on my current gen sub.

·

This is the first time I have ever (even remotely) read about someone that called the Seamaster's bracelet "bad." I have an older model and the bracelet is one of the most comfortable I've ever worn. I can't imagine the newer ones are that much worse. I guess it's all up to the wearer, but I find this whole topic just short of unfathomable.

·

Never listen to YouTube review. They usually have the watch for a couple days and that is never enough time to review a watch. They also just repeat everything that all the other reviewers says.

The bracelet is great and is a large part of what makes the Seamaster iconic. It’s extremely well made, comfortable and iconic.

I also have a oyster style bracelet from Forstner I will put on it from time to time but it feels so cheap compared to the Omega bracelet. Mine is on the original bracelet 99% of the time.

·

Nothing wrong with this bracelet, though some people regret the lack of taper beyond that top notch

·

I have a 16.25 cm wrist and often wear my 300M on the bracelet, it's heavy but very comfortable and great quality. I have quite flat wrists though, which definitely helps. The negativity is overstated, and seems arbitrary to me.

·

I will be getting the seaweed green smp next week and will also go for the rubber strap; the bracelet is well builds but too thick for me & with some sharp-ish edges. The Mirco adjustment is great but I’m not sold since it doesn’t taper. It’s a good bracelet that is very much still stuck in the 2010s. Personally I prefer the new Tudor 5link or the Longines HYDROCONQUEST gmt bracelet to this one

·

Seamasters go well with milanese straps

·

The bracelet is fine. I have one. I think most YouTube reviews that are negative about it are personal opinions. If you are planning on buying a SMP, always buy with the bracelet. If you don’t like it there are lots of aftermarket straps to chose.

·

I’ve been wearing mine for 2 weeks now and have had no issues concerning this bracelet at all. I prefer it over my Sub and Tank. It’s a personal decision but in my opinion, it’s truly a beautiful watch. You must decide for yourself.

·

Between no micro adjust and no taper, it's a huge no from me. I adore the watch but the bracelet is holding it back for sure. What's interesting is that in the pre-ceramic days the bracelet was night and day better than other competitors like Rolex.
