Ebay / Evri warning!!!

Hi all

To cut a long story short, sold a watch on Ebay and sent it with the linked courier Evri (formerly Hermes) they have lost the package, and now inform me watches are prohibited items. No compensation entertained. It is in the fine print, which I obviously did not see. I'm almost £500 out of pocket. Ho ho ho, merry Christmas 8-(

Royal mail for me going forwards, strikes or no, the item would have arrived or I would be reimbursed. An expensive lesson for me. Please beware watchcrunchers UK.

Sorry to hear that.

·

Do you know why they're called Evri?

Cuz Evri F*cking parcel goes missing

·

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, certainly taken a hit with this.

·

So sorry 😢

·

Thanks for the heads up.

·

Hermes, with very few exceptions, have always been exceptionally shit. Like, truly, abysmally, awful.

Sorry to hear about this happening to you… perhaps you used a credit card or have some route with which you can get something back?

·

Sad 😕 I'm afraid that every shipper forbid watches (or jewels) in their parcels. There are always (in my experience, not an iron rule) small lines telling that. They cover themselves in case of problem...

I am the seller, not the buyer.

I am the seller, not the buyer.

I gathered that, but wondered if the method you used to pay the delivery company may be worth a shot.

·

Evri delivered my Benrus that got wrecked. Not a coincidence.

In that case I exoect the most I would get is a refund of the postage. Good idea though, thanks!

·

Sorry to hear about it. I had my share of problems with DHL but never something like that.

·

Fedex, UPS, and DHL also have sharp limits on insurance for "jewelry," including watches. I believe it's $1000 for Fedex, $500 for UPS, and DHL excludes jewelry altogether. And no, they don't bother to make this well known; the information is not at all obvious on their websites.

·

Sorry to hear that. There are countless of guides/posts/etc. that tell you exactly that. Always use a courier that explicitly insures jewelry up to the declared value. I use Intex (within Germany)

·

That's a bummer!

·

The only thing I ever sent by Evri arrived open with the contents pinched. And that was only a watch STRAP!

They might be a bit of a basket case at the moment, but Royal Mail Special Delivery is the way to go within the UK...

·

Shocking, thanks for the heads up.

·

I always called them MyHerpes.

RM or DHL I think are the least crap.

Sorry that sucks about the watch.

I recently broke a £600 Samsung 55" 4K TV before I even got to use it and had no way to get a replacement.

I got it free because it needed a small repair but it's still a £600 loss and I'm back to my garbage monitor that I think was made in the 1800s.

I was so pissed off.

·

Very sorry to learn about it!

The lovely Seiko pilots watch that has vanished. Reluctant sale to fund my Vertex.

·

Bummer. But thanks for reminding us to check the fine print always!

UPDATE!!

Had a message yesterday from Packlink 'your parcel is out for delivery' .   later on the confirmation that it had been signed for and delivered. I contacted the buyer and he gladly paypal'd me the money - as I had previously refunded him.

Alls well that ends well, but Royal mail only for mengoing forwards. Remember folks - Evri have watches on the prohibited items list and will not compensate for loss.
