I’ve got MANY watches on my list to acquire this year. Below are four pieces of varying styles in immediate contention.

Which of the following would you pick up first if you had to pick one:

No brainer ….SINN

It would depend on what you already have in the collection.

I’ve got a bit of everything tbh. However, of the four the one I have no others like is the maxbill chrono as I have no other auto chronos.

And that is quite the looker as well… it is a fantastic chrono that screams design and elegance. My mind immediately went to the Junghans or the Sinn. But if you already have a tool-style watch, then I’d go with the Chrono.

I would jump on that Sinn and contemplate stopping collecting. Probably wouldnt stop, but that watch really seems perfect.

·

Oris if it were me but I've also been very interested in marathon

·

This is a tough one, but Marathon has been at the top of my list for a long time now.

I’ve got their officers watch mechanical and it is a sweet piece. Love the brand.

The Oris Big Crown is on my short list.... and a Max Bill!

·

Oh man between the Oris and Marathon that's tough. Personally I think the Sinn looks boring. If you want an apocalyptic level tool watch the Marathon fits the bill. But the Oris is pure class....

·

Love the Oris pointer date! I would go for the light blue fume diel, by they’re all gorgeous 👍🏻

Love the Max Bill chromosome too, but I own the classic Max Bill, would go for the Oris first 💪🏻

·

I’ve had the Oris and the Sinn. Both are fine watches at their price point. I prefer the Sinn out of the 2 and would take it out of all the options here.

·

Look at Oris with a commanding lead! I would have thought Sinn would dominate. I personally picked the Maxbill. Would love to see it on wrist.

·

Depends what you will do next ! Soirées ? Travel ? First response ? Racing ?

I loved the Oris. But the Sellita movement had qc issues. Oris fixed them quickly.

Sinn will be sturdy but can be a daily wear like the Oris, so a good compromise.

The Marathon may be a bit too sturdy for a daily companion; not easy to wear on all occasions.

Finally the Chronoscope is also very nice but maybe too dressy and not sturdy enough as you chose already 2 sturdy watches I suppose you might need this ?

So 1/ Sinn and 2/ Oris 3/ Junghans and 4/ Marathon sorted on versatility based on my tunneled vision! 😂

Can get some great deals on the Oris out there too. I like the blue dial on a leather strap, or the green dial in the bronze version on leather pretty killer too.

Sinn was certainly the early favorite. I was surprised too.

Comprehensive! Thank you for including me in your process. I’m leaning Sinn to be honest.

I recently have become interested in Oris quite a bit. I got a Divers 65 and I think I’m going to need a pointer date soon enough.

I had always slept on their catalogue until recently. There are some really stellar pieces there.

Three of those watches: the pointer date, the 556, and the GSAR are all watches that have been on my (very long) short list of watches to buy. Recently purchased the Monta Noble instead. But the 556i is probably the one I’d go with if that selection, pointer date a close second. Also, am I the only one who hates the Maxbill!?

I don’t think you’re the only one at all. I’ve heard many people say it’s boring or derivative. But it was the progenitor of many of the modern designs copied by fashion brands all over the world. So it’s only been made redundant by the thousands of copies it’s spawned. Different strokes tho, I think it’s neat.

If I go pointer date I’m thinking red dial on leather. I don’t own a red dial watch yet and I like how deep the red is on their pointer date.

·

Personally I’d go Oris, then Junghans, then Sinn and at the end grab the Marathon

Different strokes, for sure. Not my taste is all. Cheers on whatever you decide to go with!
