Can you see in the dark?

Just powered up my watches with UV and turned off the lights. Wished lume lasted longer then it does. Definitely want to get a watch with the tritium tubes some time in the future. Show me your lume…

Zelos really knows how to lume. Is the 2nd to last a Xeric? Reminds me of a old radio dial. Beautiful!

Yes that is a Xeric Halograph ll Automatic. I love how Zelos uses lume. Love your lit up winder box full of goodies. 😎

Tritium is great, but only in less expensive watches. Problem is tritium vials are quite expensive. Why I say in less expensive watches, because in 12 years most are too dim to read, so you are left with a no lume watch. I say this from personal experience. I am a big fan of radium-226, with a half-life of 1,600 years, it could be done safely though I doubt any watch manufacturer would want to after its tragic history. Perhaps the best lume is in Casio watches with LEDs that come on with a button push or wrist tilt.

Unpopular opinion: hitting watches with a UV torch and then watching as a lume disappears in normal light is not what lume is designed for.

As it gets darker outside and your eyes adjust to the light the lume is a lot brighter than it looks on camera.

Anyone that has a watch with x-1 super luminova and has forgotten to take it off when they go to bed will at some point get a kick from a partner who is light sensitive or get a surprise if they wake up in the middle of the night. My FXD lume lasts all night

Just WOW

My lume 😬

Seiko LX

I’ve not found any micro brand or Swiss diver that last like it does.

Micro brands and Swiss brands use Europe based (Japan developed) superluminova.

It does great after a UV charge, but it never stays bright and easily legible as well as this LX, hour after hour. It’s some form of lumi bright, but well outperforms other very bright seiko divers, and way above superluminova

The full fat pelagos is a torch - it’s still easily visible after 5 hours in the dark.

Nice photo. Looks a bit like a cockpit at night 🤩

What winder do you use?

Here’s some of my lume

First up, invicta Boba Fett Limited Edition automatic

Image

Second, my newest watch, the Avi-8 P-51 Twilight Tear automatic limited edition

Image

Third, my current favorite chronograph, the Avi-8 hawker hunter GMT chronograph (quartz)

Image

Next up, the ratio freediver, this one’s lume has lasted the entire night before

Image

Then, we’ve got my Avi-8 Bell X-1 automatic limited edition

Image

And then finally, my least favorite watch in my collection, the OLEVS 5538. The lume layout is kinda unique yes, but that makes it kinda hard to read, also it’s a chronograph with no pushers which is annoying. Well, there are actually pushers you just have to use a spring bar tool to operate them
