Hi Crunchers. Figured I would share what I keep on the winder. I don’t keep they going all the time. Normally I will pick what I want to wear the night before and turn on that particular winder. Haven’t really settled on an organization yet.

Cool! What winder is that?
Yeah shouldn't keep a watch winder on all the time. Only use it if you have to.
Watch winder wear down your movements. I let my watch wind down. If I need to use an automatic watch, I shake it for a few seconds to get things moving again.
I never manually wind my automatic.
That’s an amazing winder … impressive collection
What’s the challenge coin at the base?

It’s from the Maryland Secretary of State. I gave him a tour of the facility I work at.

I got lucky. Usually my boss gives the VIP tours.

From a company called Leader. Found it on Amazon.
Nice collection! That Tag Skipper 🤩
That is the largest winder I’ve ever seen. I just found it on Amazon. That is crazy awesome.

Thanks. Very space efficient.

Look, if you wore just one automatic all the time it would be like having it on the winder all the time. I have lots of moon phase watches and change up often. Having to set them is a royal PITA.
Having them on a winder is no more wear than wearing them.

I agree. They are for wearing, which means they are for winding. I’m not going to be around 80 years from now worrying about wear and tear. I’m winding, wearing, and using them while I can.
Very nice collection!
Nice watch winder and collection man! Well done 🍻👊🏽
I really dig your collection. I don’t mind winding.
Beautiful. I love them
Wait, is that a quartz? Just kidding....

You wear them unnecessarily because you don't used the watch. It's better to let the automatic wind down if you're not using it.

You're missing my point entirely. A good watch, if well maintained, will outlast the owner. The wear you are speaking of, is close to non-existant. A good watch can be worn everyday for 50-100 years, or more. My great grandfather's Elgin pocket watch runs just fine.
But you do you, and I'll do me. I'll use my winder, go to it each and every day, and grab and go whatever suits my fancy. No setting of watches with many complications required, except for making sure the date is correct.
In fact, I'll put much less wear on the stem and setting mechanisms than if I were to let them wind down and have to set them each time I wear them.
Can you actually point out any real evidence, other than the echo chamber of opinion, that shows a watch that's been kept in a winder is more damaged than one that is treated like you prefer?
The winder is almost bigger than my fridge 😱
Very very impressive collection 🥰🔥

Mechanical watch require maintenance and that cost money.
Rolex maintenance schedule is every 3 years of continuous use.
Seiko spring drive is 3-4 years maintenance schedule and it can cost up to $900.
It is your watch and money. I personally let my automatic wind down if I'm not using it.
