Rotation Days

I like to wear all my watches, I only have 8. I usually wear them 2 or 3 days then move to the next one. I don’t make that a rule just seems to happen that way. Do you wear all your watches and do you rotate them on a schedule? Today is Rolex.

Lately have been wearing one for a full week.

·

I try on a random rotation across all the collection. Trying never to use one for two days straight and 50/50 outfit matching (including suits at office days), I end up giving enough love to the whole roster.

Every so often, I try tracking the usage so to understand which ones actual are catching dust and need to find a new home.

·

My rotation is quite odd, even to me, I'll wake up - with my watch on, I've worn one permanently for 50 years now - and think "I miss that watch, I'll wear it today" that is completely random so I'll wear something until I'm bored of it, sometimes I'll pick something again that's recently worn or like today I picked something up where I had to change it from DST to 'normal'. No pattern here 😄

·

I usually wear mine around a week or two at a time, or sometime in between. No set rule, just take one out of the box and keep it out until I tire. I used to have a rule of "1 week per watch," but now I'm used to longer rotations.

I originally started doing this as a way of making myself stay in love with what I have, rather than quickly get bored and just after the next new thing

·

Grab and go. Try to make sure they (most) get wrist time.

·

Yes, I have 20+ watches. I wear about 14 of them regularly. Sometimes wearing upto 3 a day. If I'm doing something that might damage one of them I'll wear one of my G-Shocks, otherwise I rotate between Seikos, Citizen and my new Christopher Ward.

·

Yes, they all get worn. Some more than others, but they all get worn. I don't have a rotation schedule or anything like that. I just go with whatever I'm feeling that day. I have a handful that get lots of regular wear. The rest get worn on occasion when I'm feeling it that day. It took a while to learn, but I'm now ok with having watches that only get worn sparingly.

·

I have a loose way of choosing a watch. Generally, I’ll open my box and just look at them. As I see each watch, I remember the last time I wore it, what it felt like and how long it’s been since. Eventually, something will jump out at me, whether it’s because I feel like wearing a small comfortable watch or something big and chunky, or maybe because I haven’t worn one in a while.

Sometimes, I’ll be sitting on the couch and I will feel like wearing a particular watch next. No reason. Just a desire to wear it.

I might wear a watch for a day, three days or a week. There’s no schedule. It’s just how I feel at the time.

I used to have many more watches and kept a tight rotation that took three months to get through. I find the current method much more enjoyable and I have greater satisfaction from what I have. Some might even call it contentment.

What @Davemcc said.

I have over 120 and wear whatever suits my fancy. It's like going to a watch store every morning. Sometimes I'll change watches several times per day. 👍

Only here on WatchCrunch is that a normal and perfectly acceptable statement.

When I see you say it back to me I guess it would be odd in the “general public”😂😂😂😂😂

To me the odd part is only having 8 watches.😂

·
  • 12 (primary box)

  • Pick 2 and wear them for ~1mo switching back and forth every ~week

  • Rinse and repeat with another 2

·

I'm trying to get a better appreciation of each of my watches with the intention of having a bit of a cull during the year so I'm trying to wear 1 watch for 5 days and then alternate 1 or 2 others over the weekend.

I used to alternate every 2-3 days. Also if I randomly get on an accuracy kick (which sometimes happens) then I'll keep wearing the same one for longer, whilst tracking accuracy via an app every day. Only if I'm in a weird mood though haha

·

Man, I usually change it up every day, and sometimes I wear 2 or 3 watches over the course of a day if I'm home and the mood strikes. I don't wear all my watches, but I've got a solid core of 6 that are on steady rotation, and a few others I only wear every now and then.

·

@GeneSt I aspire to be like you and wear all my watches. A rotation schedule would probably be helpful, but I just reach for whatever watch I feel like wearing on any given day. This month I just started tracking how often I wear each non-beater watch so I can keep an annual tally.

·

If I need to wear a watch, which isn't always, I take a look at what I'm wearing and what I'll be doing... and then I choose a watch. So no rotation here; if I stuck to a rotation I would end up wearing watches that didn't suit my look or purpose that day. Simple as that.

·

No schedule - I wear my watches in a rotation very similar to what you’ve described. My Doxa will sometimes go for 4-5 days tho.

·

I don’t have a rule, but I do try to wear them all. Automatic watches get at least 2 days. I have a couple of Quartz they usually get only 1 day.

And during the weekend I usually don’t repeat watches…

So, I guess I do have a rule. Your post just help me discover it 🤣🤓

·

I wear my G-Shock square 90% of the time because it's my work watch. During my of time I wear whatever feels right that day or whatever matches my outfit if I'm going out.

That exactly what I do

·

Around the house I tend to wear a Casio 168 or similar Casio, hardly know its there. I was away last weekend at a 3 day convention and had 3 watches which each matched my clothes for that day. It seems be what Im doing lately. I did recently buy a Bulova jet Star in gold for the summer and nearly got a citizen tsuyosa yellow dial for the bright summer days too.

I need more rotation days than you....

I wear watches based on my activities. If I'm traveling, GMT and my Tudor BB58 get the most rotation. But I bring a few vintage watches.

Working at home, vintage watch with leather band. As I never wear a bracelet at my computer.

Driving, also I prefer one of my vintage watches with a leather band. I rarely wear a bracelet watch at desk or driving. Unless I'm traveling.

The GMT when traveling, (travel internationally about 10 times a year) so it's the work horse and also the watch that is most important as it serves a useful function. My GMT used to be an older vintage Seiko, but will now be the Traska Venturer. I have also used the black Bay 58 as a poor man's GMT. Youv can track a second time zone with a dive watch. But, it's not that great. You are offsetting the dial arrow at 12 by the time difference and requires on the fly calculation. Not ideal.

The rest of the time it's a vintage Seiko. Those are my favorite for dinners, going out to the club, or heading to Starbucks.

·

By the way, your watch is pretty cool, I would love to see pictures of the rest of your collection (8).

Most of you guys need many more days than I do to rotate your collections. All my watches are special to me either because of personal connections with them or because of the story of the manufacturer. I have no intention of getting rid of any of them. There are still a couple of watches I want to acquire but honestly not too many. If I travel I only take one watch. I don’t feel the need to switch.

I don’t really have a schedule. I just noticed I switch every couple of days. I could easily wear one several times before I go through the entire collection (I only have 8). I wear the Rolex the least for some reason. The Breitling probably gets the most wrist time….I guess I’ll have to start tracking all of this.😂😂😂

I try to wear diverse styles/color schemes over the week so I can wear 3 different watches or swap straps in a week. It'll probably be easier to do in the Spring/Summer.

Thanks for sharing the images. I really enjoy seeing the watches from this community.

I try to wear a different watch a day to keep it fresh. I only have 8 watches but tons of straps. So my combo options are high.
