So today I tried on the Rolex Daytona, 2009 model so pre ceramic bezel. It was a lot smaller than I expected. (Which I thought I would like due to my small wrists.) I’ve been lusting after/brainwashed into thinking I wanted one, and with prices dropping it’s becoming more attainable. But I didn’t get the feels.

Longines Spirit 37 mm. Love the dial hate the long lugs.
Pretty much everything by Tudor
🔥
I haven't lusted after it, but I tried on a new full gold Daytona (on Oysterflex) recently and just didn't get any kind of attraction.
I got the same when I tried on a Daytona...I actually have like every Tudor I've tried on so far
Pre ceramic Daytonas look amazing on the wrists of confident professional ladies. A little small for my tastes but I am not the target market. I have a friend who owns both a white and black dial El Primero Daytona will spent a hour telling you they were gifts from some rich clients. Does not allow his wife near them.
💯 has happened to me b4
This brick...
So this happens to me with a lot of watches, I lust over it but when I try it on, it doesn’t do it for me. The Cartier Santos is an example. It’s beautiful But everytime I try it on, I hate the way it looks on my wrist. Ironically I still lust for it and keep trying it on, thinking it will somehow look different on my wrist 🤷🏻♂️
Grand Seiko SBGA429:
And the Zenith Chronomaster Sport:
Both badass in every way, both just too small. Harrumph.
Longines Spirit 37 mm. Love the dial hate the long lugs.
Same here. I really wanted to love the watch. But the lug to lug ruined it for me.
before buying an expensive watch hold the value in cash in your hands first to see which you value more. Buyers remorse will not taste very good.
What's the size of that 2009 Daytona, Gavin?
This brick...
Nice Rolex. I like the Sea Dweller because it's a brick. I think size will fit my wrist easily but I worry it's to thick. I need to find one to try on before I pull the trigger.
I tried on a Daytona for me it was to small which is ok. The Daytona is my least favorite Rolex.
Every single Rolex and TAG/Heuer I ever tried on.
I remember it vividly. A Daytona with a gold case, white dial, gold sub-dials, brown strap with white stitching and a gold deployment clasp. That was it for me.
Being a newbie then, then finding out the price, completely blew me away. Like, beyond comprehension blown away. Gold, yes. Quality, yes. But the same price of a decent car that time? NO.
40mm
While listed as a 40, they are actually closer to 38. The newest models are almost 40 but still not quite
This is a great question. I always try on before I buy (I know it sounds obvious) as I have changed my mind so many times after trying on the watch I coveted the most. If i don't get "the feels" ( I like that), as in if it doesn't look good TO ME on my wrist I won't buy. This hobby is to expensive for regrets 😂
When I started working for my current employer they had service gifts every 5 years the 25 year was a datejust but unfortunately we were bought by another company who did away with the scheme so I decided I would buy my own to celebrate. Time came rang the ad and yes they had a blue dial with oyster bracelet and smooth bezel. So off I went to collect it. Walked out with an aqua tera. Was a nice watch but didn’t feel special enough but the AT was. This was just before covid so getting a datejust was easy
Date sub 41mm. It was big, chunky, shiny and ostentatious. I was expecring a tool watch.
That looks like it sits lovely on your wrist in the picture
For me with Submariner, too small! AD then offered me Sea Dweller and that is what I bought and I am very happy 😍
Citizen eco drive.. I actually asked for it! When I got it… Man! Pisses me off every time I look at it..
Lovely #rolex 😍
Omega aqua terra. Soooo dull. Bloody love that Daytona though. Gonna buy it for my 40th…. I think .. maybe ….
Daytona is overrated, dainty and hard to read, seriously disappointing. Most watches don’t live up to expectations. But when you find a great watch unexpectedly, that’s special. Buy if you can
The Daytona is one of the most underwhelming watches.
Longines Spirit 37 mm. Love the dial hate the long lugs.
I know this sounds ridiculous but... did you try the 40mm? Weirdly, I find the 40mm does wear like 50mm. I think the case diameter does something with the lugs on this watch. I don't want to suggest you wear a school bus hubcap on your wrist. Maybe it works with this watch?
Hamilton Green dial titanium khaki, Tudor Pelagos black dial, Seiko Shogun Titanium.
