So... I decided to press on with my plans to modify this 6119 Seiko 5 from 1970. It had lost it marker at the 2 o'clock position and I decided I couldn't live with it.
Although I got the day/date change working as it should (needed a new setting lever) I decided I wanted it to be just a date.
I've kept the original hands and dial safe and can refit them if desired.
I'm happy with how it's turned out.

Great job, and I see you used the Namoki birch dial. It looks great.
Love it.

Thank you.
It's actually a Snowflake dial from Lucius Atelier who are brilliant. The service is superb
Wow, that is definitely a personal touch! I assume you liked the dial?
And sorry, brain fart on my side, it was LA, of course.
Farewell dear vintage dial

Just kidding! 😉 Kinda looks like a Patek with the crown in the wrong spot.

I'll settle for comparison with Patek 😉
No distain, only admiration.
When you were fishing for ideas I threw out that breguet hands would look good. I will stand by that recommendation.
Good job giving it a new life.
moded yourself? If yes I bow before you. I hope I can do something like this in the future. I'm just one passionate nooob in this watch world. I have moded my gshock 5610, with kit from ali, if u can call it a mod. It was only four screws. 😜
Anyhow nice work bud 😎

Yes. Restored the original case, serviced and repaired the movement, replaced the acrylic crystal. Then fitted new dial and hands.
4 screws is a start. I'm nothing special; I've learned as I go and made plenty of mistakes along the way.
Go for it if you want to do it.

I think you're right. I was just going for that baby GS look with the Snowflake dial.
There's plenty of scope for future modification before I eventually refit the original dial/hands and sell it to @Deeperblue for £1.2m. 😉
I think it looks great.
Thank you.
