Stepping into entry level luxury watches.

I prefer the King Seiko because... it is a King Seiko (makes any sense?), but I am curious what would you guys choose.

Extremely different watches for very different situations. Put aside the dollar amount, which one do you see yourself wearing more?

·

As much as I love the King Seiko name, the SPB King Seikos are overpriced for what they are if you ask me. You're better off going with a Swiss alternative in that price range if value for money is important to you.

I'd recommend getting a vintage King Seiko if you're heart is really set on one. The vintage market can be a minefield of its own though so I wouldn't blame you for not going that route.

Different in style, yes, but not so different in wrist feel and versatility. I tend towards the KS, because my heart wants it. I don't care about its accuracy at all - although if I chose a Longines, I would.

I will wait for a discount campaign anyway, not going to rush into the purchase.

I would totally love to get a vintage 44KS in good condition, but I wouldn't buy a vintage watch before holding it in my hand first.

I think the KS re-issue are overpriced, just like any Seiko re-issue in recent years. They really pushed the greed cursor to 11 lately. But the 60s Seiko grammar of design is incomparable and the watches are gorgeous.

·

Me personally i would not like to spend over 1.5k on seiko

·

get a 2nd hand longines for 50% off.

·

I don't think that way at all. As a matter of fact, I was happy to spend thousands of dollars on my spring drive Seiko LX when I could have easily bought similarly priced watches from Tudor or Omega instead.

·

I’d go for the Seiko even though it’s tiny. I would ignore the supposed value issue. The finishing makes up for it. Plus I’m a Longines hater. 😂

·

Used Omega. (None of the above)

·

I would just get a tudor 1926 on a bracelet

·

The KS is a really special watch on wrist. Uniquely beautiful and insanely comfortable on that bracelet. Folks complain about the movement but it’s solid and anyone can regulate it to run within 2 seconds/day. The Longlines is…fine. Nothing wrong with it but it’s just aesthetically and mechanically it’s just another watch from the Swatch Group parts bin and a bit overpriced for something so generic IMO.

·

These Longines models are boring and ugly, IMO. My vote is for the King Seiko.

I was just looking at this one before! Been thinking about snapping it. Love the color. You bought new?

·

Attack people in private please and not on open forum. This is about the watches.

I really want to love that new conquest I just think they feel a bit big. I believe they’re 41mm and it’s really all dial. The hydro at least fits a rotating bezel on there to look a bit more suited for the size. The KS looks to be a better size but I prefer the designs of either Longines. Like all things this is just user preference. My wrists are pretty big, I would be at a tossup between the Longines. Err… Longines-es… Longini.

·

If cost is a concern, and you don't do second hand, these are all watches I see on significant discount (20-40%) on a regular basis, at least in the UK. Decide what speaks to you and hang fire for a deal - you shouldn't have to wait long. I picked up a new King Seiko like this for a little over £1000 in a Christmas sale from an AD. Just bide your time and a great deal is surely round the corner.

·

I would go with Quartz Longines Hydroconquest 39mm. As much as whole Internet and Youtube are hyping Seiko - it is budget brand for me still. Even King.

Yes actually. I visited Japan in 2023 I was a bit hesitant to buy it but my wife decided to buy for me 🥰.

Dislike the case and design of the old Hydroconquests, so King Seiko for me
