Is Montblanc Worth it?

I have seen some models like this one from Montblanc timewalker line in really good prices (around 1200)

What do you, watch lovers, think about Montblanc, also about timewalker line?

Many thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘Š๐ŸปโŒš๏ธ

Iโ€™m not really familiar with their watches, but I think Iโ€™ll have a look. Companies that are best know for other items donโ€™t always spring to mind when I think about watches. Unlike Cartier, I think of their other products first. Strange.

I have (or have had) the MB Timewalker 7188 and the 7070. I rate them quite highly, lovely retro designs with Sellita sw200-1 movements. They are probably priced about right imho.

Some of the higher end Montblancโ€™s feature Minerva manufacture movements since it was acquired about 15 or so years ago and very highly regarded.

ยท

I like their Timewalker line alot. Good brand image too I think.

ยท

Thatโ€™s a nice design, but like their fountain pens, I find them well out of my financial reach โ€” and if they were, I am less than certain they would be the best choices to be honest.

ยท

So, Montblanc have been part of the Richemont group since 1993, and they acquired Minerva in 2007. Read into that what you will.

ยท

They have some nice pieces but may not have a good resale value. I have one that I absolutely adore and probably never sell.

TBH I never think about them.

A coworker of mine wears one. A Chronograph that has a lot of old military aesthetics. Itโ€™s a beautiful watch for sure. The brand seems to be making nice stuff. I wouldnโ€™t say one should avoid them.

those are facts

Iโ€™m not saying every Montblanc has a Minerva movement, but Richemont acquired Montblanc who in turn acquired Minerva, so there is a clear hierarchy within the hierarchy. Only you can decide if you think a Montblanc is worth the price of entry.

I regret not getting a Timewalker Southern Hemispheres GMT; thatโ€™s one of my genuine watch regrets (alongside a Graham Silverstone and Chronofighter double-whammy). I am one (unwelcome) opinion.

Richemont getting Cartier some space to develop movements, and Richemont buying Montblanc a movement maker are just some of the nice things โ€œDaddyโ€ has done for his children. What they do with said toys is down to them.

Montblanc is often accidently called a "fashion brand" which they are don't.

They take watch making very seriously. The old traditional watch manufacturer Minerva belongs to Montblanc and produces their watches.

Anyway their watches are more affordable than others competitors.

I personally like the Iced Sea model line. That are awesome watches.

But I have no experience with the timekeeper models. What I notice are a high number of this model line on the used marked which made me wonder.

But in general I would say Montblanc is worth it.

Some of their pieces are pretty, but I've often looked at their pieces and wondered "why?" For instance, their salmon dialed heritage GMT is gorgeous, for the most part, IMHO -- but has no date on it. Why not? It's a freakin' GMT!

Also, I feel like if I owned one, I'd constantly be thinking about pens -- which, of course is what they're most known for.

I saw a Montblanc featured prominently in a K-drama:

Sometimes I check out the Montblanc AD. There are some good value watches with Sellita movements, and I believe they have some flagship pieces with Minerva movements (haven't seen those). Although personally none of the watch designs have been memorable to me.

I just bought this model my watch lover friends! As soon as it arrives, I'll show it here for you!!! โŒš๏ธโœ…๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Absolutly. Montblanc made perhaps their best looking watch so far. It even fits very well on small wrists.

The quality of Montblancs is impeccable and on par with Tag Heuer, Breitling, Omega and others. The movements are either Selitta or in house Minerva.
