Helm is an awesome brand and it’s a shame they were not in the microbrand tournament. I own the Komodo and I love it. A bit chunky but still a great watch.
Maybe MAYBE you can argue the best dive watch microbrand. You can't call them the best when they have a simple catalog with nothing but dive watches. Zelos, Baltic and the list goes on have more weight to their name.
Baltic offers a dress watch with a micro rotor under 600

Not sure how best is defined, but for me, Baltic is my favorite for pure vintage inspired design, and Zelos is my favorite for just cool and interesting designs
I think Scurfa are often overlooked. Created by a commercial deep sea diver the Diver One is an amazing affordable tool watch, available with ETA or Ronda quartz movements, includes a helium escape valve and capable of 500m depths.
For those who don’t earn their living on the sea floor, the Treasure Seeker is more refined, Miyota 9015 automatic movement, yet still capable of 300m depths. No desk diver, this.

The Vanuatu is a standout for sure.😎🌅
I'm partial to the Helm Miyako myself. And I had to pass it the chance when my turn on the waiting list came up.
But it's this Horizon Nautilus that really floats my boat.😎🤩

I do like the bezel on that! Reminds me of the fiftyfathoms - I’m looking for another microbrand dive watch but 40mm or less
Love my Helms! Kept these two and gifted one to my local watch guy.

Do you have massive wrists and don't mind thick and chunky divers?

Got mine on today too!
Up to and well above $500, factually unbeatable (assuming you can get one and have the wrist).
Especially with that ISO rating 🦾
Availability is the problem but the watches in everyone else’s WRUW posts always draw attention to my eyes 👀

Yup
Personally I don't like the really squared off hands and indices, so for me... No. But I'm sure they're great 👍
Nodus Sector Deep?
Islander Northport?
Darn tootin', Skippy!
Wait, I thought we had a whole microbrand tourney to settle all of that? 🤣

Mine are just average and I think it fits ok!
The Formex Reef is a clear step up IMO.

I really like the new 39.5mm one!

It’s an amazing watch! I’ve handled them a few times. Always impressed by what Formex has to offer.
