Why won’t you love me?!

Ahh…the Royale: A farthing’s worth of a watch…that to so many is a pound’s worth of sterling.

Since 2019 (when I bought this iconic wonder) I have worn it no more than a baker’s dozen of times. So blatant is my indifference to my Royale…that I swear I can hear it sometimes whimper for a little love as it rests in the back of my watch drawer.

Why don’t I love this watch? After all…the watch is chock-full of complications suitable for about anyone in any walk of life. And its cost is so miniscule as to laugh heartily in the face of so many watches that far exceed its cost.

I hereby commit to wear this watch every day for the next fortnight in the hope whatever pathogen of pleasure it may possess will transfer to my senses…and assimilate me as it has many who muse at its squarish and beastial…but capable facade.

What iconic watch in your collection leaves you vexed as to why you may not like it to the level so many others do?

The Casio Royale has become my dedicated air travel watch, and quite often becomes my grab-and-go watch when in a hurry because it is usually sitting on my desk.

However, I have to admit that my F91W sees almost no wrist time these days.

Sadly, My F-91W also suffers a similar fate. I do see how the Royale could be a good traveler’s tool.

Needs a modification. Metal case, sapphire crystal and a leather strap from Vario. Makes a huge difference to both wearable and the cost I.e. take. £30 watch then spend £230 on it hahaha

Same with my 1200.

Always ready

On a bracelet so it can dress a bit up if needed

100m WR if water is in the forecast

Excellent back light if it's dark

Legible

Inexpensive if things go south

I wear this like crazy and have it on diff straps, and those still get worn. The one I dont wear too often though is my Seiko "Batman" GMT, like u, not sure why its that way.

·

The reason God made color, is because we as humans have different taste. My casio royal is my travel watch so in case I damage or lose it. Just buy another. But to answer the question, I have a Spinnaker Hull chronograph that I just don't use. Why don't know. But I'm going to wear it tomorrow (maybe)

I can appreciate the appeal, but the temptation falters with the added cost.

Right — because otherwise the Batman is a great-looking watch.

Try to wear it for a couple of weeks like I’ve decided. Maybe that will ‘forge’ a relationship.

·

It's a nice piece. I wear it everytime I step on a plane. That's how special it is.

I didn’t like mine……

Returned it to Amazon same day. 💨

Actually, I feel like I neglect alot of my Casios my Seikos and Orients and recently my Lunar Pilot. I also recently heard my friend called Casio as 'fun watches' so maybe that's why mine are rotting in the watch box.

But I do feel like a replacement leather strap might make the world timer more versatile. I am actually interested to get one but just a wee bit concerned that I will ignore it too🤣

Oh yea, this is one of the fun watches that I have really ignored but don't wish to sell haha

I was falling out of love with my PRX until I took off the bracelet and put on a rubber strap. Crazy I know. I’m just not into the super blingy uncomfortable bracelet.

·

Mine is my workout watch since it's stop-watch function is so much easier to use than my G-Shock and it's not as precious as my vintage Alti-Depth.

You were admirably proactive.

I have heard a lot about the Vario custom strap that admittedly makes the watch look pretty dang nice. But then I’d have to go all the way with a ss case and a sapphire crystal. I just can’t do it.

A new strap can totally do that.

Nah, just the strap. The adjustments shouldnt cost more than the watch🤣

Heh I love my Royal! Of my collection, 6 are Casios. The Royal was the last one I bought. An amazing watch for the money. I’ve spent 10k+ on some of the watches in my collection and this $20 watch makes me smile every time I wear it. Which is as often as my heavy hitters. No shame in the Royal game💪🏼😎

I've had two. Tried twice to have this watch a staple of my collection, but unfortunately it has one fatal flaw for me - and this is a me thing, not a watch thing.

I like to wear my watches low and loose below the knuckle (yes, I know it's the Ulna. Stay on task...), and if I'd bend my wrist up I'd inadvertently hit the bottom right pusher and change to one of the short list of time zones. Then I'd glance at my watch and wonder where the last hour went! Yup, changed the time zone again... After my mild flash of panic from being very late passed, I'd then change it back to home time.

Is that a bit silly? Probably... But I'd do it often enough that it was very frustrating. So now I just have the time and do the quick mental math between the timezones I regularly interact with.

Whattya do?...

I have/had multiple Rolex, Cartier, IWC, Omega, Kobold, Corum, Graham, Seiko, Jaeger … but I wear the Casio Royale the most. It’s fun, i low maintenance, and I don’t care what others think.

·

The casio royale was the first watch I bought 'for fun', but I've found myself drawn to traditional three handers nowadays.

After I build out my main collection, I might try modding it, but my seiko flightmaster is my usual 'I need an alarm and a way to keep track of arbitrary amounts of time, aka laundry watch'.

It would be a good travel watch except that I have plans to get a g-shock full metal square.

I think the main thing is that I don't like plastic cases or crystals.

I’d say to get that ulna surgically reduced.

I will say the painted plastic case nullifies the watch a bit for me as well.

Hahaha that argument can be made for every single watch made! It’s bizarre and on paper this make zero sense however the upgraded watch has a heft to it and the strap is a game changer. It turned it from a watch that I was never going to wear to one that I wear a lot now. Great evening watch etc.

·

I love mine!

·

Get a vario strap for it. You will thank yourself. Transformation in looks and comfort is huge. Those straps feel broken in the moment you put them in. I wear mine to work and I keep saying I'm going to get another watch for work just to have a rotation but have yet to pull the trigger. I love the AE1200. I have $1,000+ watches and my Casio is on my wrist more then any of my other watches.
