Hello my fellow watch enthusiasts :) What I am about to share was a discussion that involved a really good friend, cognac and of course watches ๐ค (Disclaimer: what I am about to write here are purely just my opinions and thoughts, I am no authority in any form or shape, so for those who are about to get hyped...relax and enjoy ๐) The topic of discussion was about luxury watches, but more precisely, Rolex...in busses (I know, it sounds weird ๐).
My point was that since Rolex is the most recognised watch brand in the world, and since it was and definitely still is to this day, a social status item that brings with "him" the idea that the owner is very well financially, maybe even from an upper class, with style, education and all the accolades. The long story short is that in MY opinion if you wear a Rolex you shouldn't ride a buss. My friend's opinion was that I am too old-school and should be a little bit more open minded ๐คฏ I am curios what you guys think of this topic :)

So are you saying there's a tier list for watches you can ride on a bus with? ๐คฃ

In joking sense, yes, I think you can say that ๐
If thatโs the case is there certain car you should not own?
Personally I donโt mind wearing Rolex on a bus. My concern is more on the safety issue. For example. I donโt mind wearing Rolex if I am in Japan riding a bus or a subway but if I am in Thailand then I would not be wearing it. First of all, the bus can be crowded so there is a chance that it will get scratches. Secondly you will either get robbed or people just donโt care because they think itโs fake ๐They will be like this guy is riding a bus and he is wearing a Rolex? Nah it must be fake letโs leave him alone. I do see lots of people wearing fake Rolexes on the bus.
I take airport shuttle bus all the time.

I think what youโre trying to say is that people shouldnโt spend on such luxuries if they havenโt yet got the necessities (in this example a car). I agree with that logic.
Is a car a necessity in a large city though? For instance you might ride the tube or bus in London, even if its every once in a while, just because its more convenient.
Rolex was and is a tool watch. An expensive one maybe, but a tool watch nonetheless.

So you don't see any "problem" with having a more expensive watch than car ? ๐คฏ๐
Iโm struggling to think of a more ridiculous thread.
I often work in London. When I do I travel on the tube and bud.
I wouldn't wear my Rolex unless it was well covered by a coat or sleeve.
For the simple reason I wouldn't want yo be robbed!
This thread actually raises a fair point and its about becoming a potential crime victim.

Recently in London a guy was killed over a luxury brand watch which proved to be fake...
Rolex is for the working classes. Usually those that work in the narcotics industry...... ๐
what a pointless post.....no Rolex on the bus.....have you been drinking ? ๐

Haha my point was can you own a Rolex and have a crap car? Iโm using your logic. Rolex v bus, bus = crap transport
Would not do this in NYC on train or bus. Specific train and bus lines at certain times, definitely not. Others do.
Ooh.. Swiss Chef and Animal are pretty good too
Absolutely.
Beaker was another favorite.
depends on where you live and your lifestyle. If you live In NY City and drive a car to get everywhere. Rolex or not, you are a tool. And if you are on vacation in Italy, Mexico, London or most of the world, you're not gonna rent a car to get to a museum or cultural spot 3 miles away.

These attacks are not unusual hence my concern. Falling asleep with your Rolex visible is never a good idea!
Cmon man get a grip. I joined WC to get away from these sorts of attitudes towards status

Sorry for you, it's impossible to get rid of such things, they are in the fabric of the society itself...I would go that far and say that even in our blood...

Strongly disagree, at least where I live in Switzerland. Anecdotal evidence from tonight suggests that the gentleman next to me in the bus tonight wore a Lange 1, which, by your logic, is not a ยซย bus watchย ยป at all, here here we areโฆ
It would depend on where you are. There some cities where public transit is just how you get around town, even if you're affluent.
I take the bus to work. Often wearing Rolex, including an Everose Daytona.
If you donโt feel comfortable on public transportation with a watch I donโt think you should own it, maybe itโs just me but if I Iโm constantly worried about my watch and what I can take it itโs not worth the money, the watch and the lifestyle donโt match

Iโd say Datejusts or DayDates with fluted bezels on jubilee and president baracelets arenโt tool watches at all.
โHey, you have a Rolex and you ride by bus???โ
โYes. Itโs MY bus.๐โ
Shit subject. Says more about the person than anything else.
Look dude if I didnโt need a car I would happily spend car running money on watches :)
