Me and Mr. Jones….

Anyone else a fan of Mr. Jones Watches?

I’m a fan of their very cool dial designs (that’s my Mare Adesso). They work with some artists to create the dials. Some are quite difficult to read but they are significantly different from a ‘traditional’ dial!

Yes of course I like this original brand. Particularly the Monster Crunsher model. Yours is really cool too, perfect watch for the summer. The only thing I don't like are the lugs. they are not my taste.

I was SO close to buying the the monster one….I wasn’t sure from the website pictures but in the metal, it looks absolutely awesome. I do agree about the lugs, they make the watches wear a lot larger and just upset the proportions slightly but THOSE dials….❤️

·

They are really interesting. BTW, I think they have the cheapest jumping hour watches in the watch world.

·

didn't know about this brand until now. looks really fun.

They definitely represent the less serious side of watches! Just a word of caution if you are thinking of buying: they do look different in person - try to get some video of the one you like. I had no intention getting my one but when I saw it in my hand, I knew instantly

Other than the lugs (as already mentioned) I do like these. Have not yet pulled the trigger on one (The Accurate most probably).

·

Not a fan of watches that can't be read with relative ease.

Have you been to the shop (OXO Tower) to have a look?

@foghorn I struggle to read the time on it! It’s certainly no chronometer 😉

But it sure does make people smile!

I remember seeing these in other stores (Heals?) and trying on a couple. It may even have been at the OXO Tower later the same day. Heals did have Alessi and Braun watches so I might have got the shops mixed up. This was many years ago but I have tried The Accurate and the old city one that was an all in one GMT, so they have been on my radar for a while.

I think they look really beautiful.

The ascendant is my favourite I think. I almost like that it forces you to slow down and really think about it in order to tell the time. It says to tell the minutes on this one you have to look at which selection of stars and moon are in the sky. Crazy!

I didn’t know they were sold there too! Might have to pop in if I’m ever nearby. The designs are definitely not for everyone but I think they are different and interesting to look at

They might not be any more, I know I haven’t been in Heals since 2011, and I don’t remember there being much in the way of watches then. 2007-2009 was definitely something because the wife did buy me an Alessi one, but it’s long since died. I think The Accurate I tried one was the original model from 2007, it had a cool grey backed dial. The design blog from the MJW website is giving me major flashback vibes.

@Deeperblue really liking that photo. You’re right - it just slows you down. It’s nice when you show people and see the look on their faces! At first, everyone thinks ‘well that’s useless for telling the time’ then it slowly dawns on them that its also about the dial art too

Ah I see. There’s a few videos floating around the web showing the dial manufacturing which is quite interesting. The movements are nothing to write home about though.
He also sells the odd vintage watch on his website too.

@artman It‘s certainly a conversation starter lol!

Very nice piece of art and one of the more legible dials!

I’m really tempted to get one. Beautiful designs and great prices. How do they wear on the wrist??

@Ghostie67 I agree with you , they are good designs - not everyone. Some do wear big because of the lugs. My advice is to pop into their shop at the OXO Tower if you can and try a few on. Some are very different on wrist. Let us know if you get one!

Love these. Have A perfectly useless afternoon watch.

Actually coming to the end of it (Southern Hemisphere), but had this bad boy throughout.

I think you're referring to the fact that on many of them, the "dial" is actually printing on the back of the crystal?

I have a "Step Right Up!" and I am simultaneously very fond of it and struggle to wear it once a month. It always makes me smile, but it just can't be casually read at a glance from any distance, which is what I really use a watch for in daily use.

I do wish the lugs were a bit shorter. Dare I also admit that I really don't like most of their offerings, but adore a select few? They are polarizing.

·

@OscarKlosoff That might be it. Some I don’t resonate with me in the pictures and yet in person they look great. Having smaller wrists I do agree with you on the lug length.

It’s a slightly different way of reading the time - it’s not ideal sometimes but it’s all about the dial design isn’t it?

·

They are the definition of novelty, different for the sake of being different. It's a total showpiece, but, like vintage watches, they are best for a relaxed lifestyle and not the thing for checking time while carrying things around in the rain.

Just digging up this post to share my beloved Ricochet 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks! It's been a few months now 😊 I don't wear it very often cause it's a bit difficult to, but it sure is a great conversation starter!

·

Its definitely a nice piece of art on your wrist (whether the time is readable or not!)

·

The most amazing thing is that the three robot are actually gilded by hand in metal foil (rose gold, palladium and yellow gold)
