Fifty-Four

It’s a Friday. Early finish from work. Walked past a Tudor AD. The BB54 was in the window. Never seen or held one before. Thought I’d pop in and try it on.

It’s a lovely size for me (I knew it would be). Here’s my hot takes:

  1. It’s light compared to the 58. Almost feels like titanium.

  2. The dial or crystal makes the dial edges appear curved - it looks amazing. I tried to capture it in the photos.

  3. The rivets aren’t noticeable when on wrist.

I didn’t buy it but I will….

Hi

I was also at an Tudor AD and had the 54 on my wrist.

I had mixed Feelings...for me it is a bit to small😭

But it is a beautyful watch!

Yeah just depends on your preference/wrist size…

We can still appreciate what we consider a ‘nice looking’ watch without having to own it/wear it

·

I tried it on a couple of weeks ago and had almost identical thoughts.

You and me both my friend....I will definitely be getting one!

·

Yup I've got this on my list. But I need to sell some divers first. Don't need so many cuz I'm moving to artsy dress watches.

·

I have the BB58, I don't know how it can be better unless you have a smaller wrist. What hits the spot for you verses the BB58?

Hey Craig! Yeah I saw your comments on it. Quite interesting since you’re a bigger guy (than me). You like the way it sits compared to Pelagos?

I remember with the 58’s when they were announced - didnt see one for 6 months but with these (and all recent releases) they’ve done a better job getting them out there

The 58 was still a touch big for me. It wore bigger than my pre-ceramic Sub

·

Well done!! Something about a 37mm diver just appeals to me. Looks good on the wrist my friend.

It is absolutely a personal thing, how it fits your wrist and how it make you happy. I think it is a beautiful watch, I think Tudor are (almost) nailing it.

·

Imma get the blue when it drops.

I only tried it on - I didnt buy it….yet….

54 is an absolute winner. join the club

agree on all your points. wears so comfortably for being a dive watch. IDGuy captured it with words the best in his latest yt vid

….and the 58 / 54 GMTs?!

It’s my next watch …. :)

If they killed the rivets & built it in Titanium I think this watch would rule the world. It's incredible as is

If they built this in titanium, I don’t think I’d realise if somebody stole off my wrist or not 😂 (it’s already that light).

But you never know with Tudor - they’ve created a lot things that the ‘watch buying public’ didn’t know they wanted. Which is good to see from a company

Finally, a company had the balls to actually release a vintage watch in a vintage size. I love it!

Apart from Tudor BB/Royal ranges (and it’s sibling’s DJ/OP); is there another manufacturer producing such a wide range of sizes? These are available from 28mm and up with plenty of sizes in between. Having your own factories and being the dominant force in sales, helps, but others could benefit from having a wider range of sizes. A lot of companies are simply offering ‘His’ and ‘Her’ sizes and that’s it

I like it a lot. Have the Black Bay 58 Bronze in 39mm and it’s a delightful fit. I’d like to try the 54 out. Reviews have been excellent.

Interesting! Would you not consider the 58 in gilt/blue (due to the fit?)

It’s my next watch …. :)

It would appear, that this is a common phrase with this particular watch….😂😂😂

I definitely would depending upon what comfort level you have with a 41mm. I have the Tudor 58 also and find it to be - for my wrist - a bit large and tall compared to the boutique bronze 39mm. I believe the standard bronze with fabric strap is even larger at 43mm. Wow.

Was given this Tudor magazine today. Pretty good paper quality.

Absolutely 👍🏼

I kept thinking the dial looks curved, how does that affect happen if it’s not curved

Did you see it in person? I think its just the domed crystal distortion and lighting. In other some other photos it looks flat. The 58 definitely didn’t have that

No I’ve not seen it in person I have one on hold to get next week - reading articles online the dial is apparently domed

Nice! I didn’t expect it when I saw it - it adds a lot of interest in the dial

·

Having now seen it I think I’m in minority and was very disappointed by the sunray finish and brown tint to the dial, I don’t know why this idea of pre ageing new watches still continues - the blue bb58 is still the best in the range

That’s cool - no watch is for everyone.

RE pre-aging: they wouldn’t do it if people didn’t buy it, I suppose
