Do you know about Aragon? A watch brand I don't see too often on the Crunch.

Yesterday would have been my brother-in-law's birthday, but sadly he passed this year in March after a ten-year fight with cancer. I was thinking about him and all the great conversations we had about watches - he was a serious watch enthusiast on a limited budget. He would always turn me on to brands unknown to me that produced really cool watches for moderate prices. One of those brands is Aragon from Hong Kong.

As I was thinking about my brother-in-law and Aragon, I realized that I don't see any articles about Aragon on the Crunch, nor do I see any Aragon watches in WRUW on the Crunch.

So in honor of Jeff, I am writing this short piece to introduce you to one of his favorite brands and to share some of the cool references I have purchased over the years from them.

WARNING!!! - these watches are for the "Big Boys" - they are mostly massive watches with many models beginning at 45mm.

Both Jeff and I had/have large wrists so we could really enjoy these watches.

Here are some from my collection.

Hope you enjoy them!

Aragon M50 - Seiko NH36, 50mm x 20mm, $80

Aragon Divemaster 3 - Seiko NH35, 45mm x 15mm, $120

Aragon Caprice (Aventurine) - Seiko NH35, 43mm x 19mm, $130

Aragon M50 - Seiko NE20, 50mm x 20mm, $200

Aragon Divemaster II - Seiko NH35, 45mm x 17mm, $130

Aragon Parma 2 (Meteorite) - ETA 2824, 45mm x 17mm, $700

Image

Aragon Hiro - Seiko NH35, 45mm x 17mm, $110

Image

Aragon Sea Charger - Seiko NH35, 44mm x 18mm, $160

Image

Aragon Divemaster 3 - Seiko NH35, 45mm x 15mm, $120

Image

Aragon Matador - Seiko NH37, 42mm x 15mm, $195

(sorry no wrist shot in the database for this one - purchase was inspired by Jeff who loved red dial watches)

Hope this brought an interesting new brand to your awareness where you can get some fun well-made watches for a really modest cost.

They definitely do well in the water - here is one in the pool...

Vary cool collection!! Diggin that M50 but yeah, little on the big side.

·

A lovely tribute to your brother-in-law.

I actually rather like many Aragon designs.  They have a colorful Squale feel to them and the price is always right.  I just wish they were significantly smaller because I saw simply don't have the wrist for them.

·

I've actually come across that brand once at the YT channel "Relative Time". Not my type to be honest, but I doesn't mean that it isn't anyone else's.

·

I could pull off the 45's but barely and talk about thicc!

Nice designs, but I'd prefer if they were a mil or two less thick from case back to crystal

·

Saw a Youtube video about Aragons. They had a watch with blocks of lumibright materials they used for indices or something?

Cool watches, anyway. Your BIL was onto something.

·

A lovely tribute. This is the Aragon I have seen

I know about them. The company used to have a different name and they tended to go for the big and bold. I think that relative time YT channel has reviews, mostly positive, on some of their models but it's been ages since I heard about them.

I think you are referring to the references they released with colored Tritium gas tubes. Very similar to what I've is seen from Ball Watch. They are cool, but a little bit too kitchsy for me. I believe they are all sold out now.

Nope. Aragon had some kind blocks impregnated with lume.

Here's the video. It's called Lumicast?

This was the original Android watch before "Do no evil" Google forced them to change the name.

Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. Time doesn’t make a loss better… I just hurts a little less.

These are all just… fun. Thanks for sharing.

·

I picked up one of their 42mm Divemasters with the Ronda automatic movement. It’s a very well built watch.

·

Tempted to pick up the Superjet 44mm running an #nh36a. 44mm is definitely on the big side which, on my girlie wrists might be an issue however, I'm wearing a #seiko SRPE05K1 king turtle today and that bad boy is 45mm. It is only 13mm tall though. I notice the Superjet is 17mm! How do they wear on the wrist? The King turtle never feels that big, but it is heavy!

These wear big on the wrist - my left wrist is 7.5 inches and these watches sit big and tall.

Here's a side shot of the Sea Charger which is 44mm x 18mm to give you an idea...

My right wrist is 8.5 inches and they wear a lot better on that side, but it always seem a little weird wearing a watch on the right.

·

Condolences on your bother in law 😢!  Great you can relieve some memories with those watches you shared interest in.
My 6 inch broompole wrist wouldn’t do well with this dimensions but there are some great color ways in there 👍

I like the added mass, it helps my spatial awareness of my arm is near. My G-Shock is so light I bash it on everything 🤣

·

A man of exquisite taste 👍🏾

So sorry for your loss

Aragon is actually American made

Aragon does use tritium on some of its watches.

These are the Lume blocks from the video. Better better believe, this company will give you more than you paid for
