Given I love Quartz for the pick a watch and go ability without having to set it after not wearing it for awhile, plus the superb accuracy, but the spring drive is kinda both….but the quartz also cost less…HELP ME!!!!
If you are an Joe Average with and average income and two or three thousand makes a big difference for you with an impact on your financial savings, then take the quartz. You xan find them used even for less than 2K.
Don't sacrifice your pension for a watch. Your future-you will be very thankfull in few years.
Service convenience is also a consideration depending on whether or not you are newer to the hobby or don’t mind shipping a watch overseas for maintenance and repair.
If you are tossing it up go for the quartz purely because it’s way cheaper.
I have a quartz and plan to go for a spring drive one day. I don’t think it’s really deviated at all since December.
That’s kinda where I was leaning. Then I still can have something entry level from them to see and enjoy the quality and still have something to aim and save up for!

Yes that’s always the thing with quartz is the service every three years. I don’t think I’ll mind as much given this isn’t your typical cheap mass produced machine made quartz. I actually think out of all my quartz this one would be the least troublesome to send in due to it being handmade. I like the idea of them looking at the movement every 3 years. Maybe they will even notice something it needs like lubrication during a service.

And the spring drive in particular can only really be serviced in Japan.
The first GS I bought was quartz because it's more practical. 9F... I don't think I will never-ever gonna need to service it, only change batteries.
And I waiting for Spring Drive that I'm can't resist. GS have pretty ones in current collection. But some I don't like because case thickness, other ones because it's limited for US market, other are expensive and I considering about them.
Few affordable: SBGA465, SBGA429
Few expensive: SLGA009, SBGY013, SBGY007
And of course you can't go wrong with GS, any of they are good 👍

I aim to own a spring drive some day. Nothing can beat the sweep of that second hand and I love how its a blend of high tech with modern machinery as well. Everyone has different desires, but if you are a fan of quartz more than the spring drive, you can't beat a GS quartz. The quality of the watches are still impeccable with either movement. I know I saw someone else comment about looking for other features on the watch besides just the movement to help make the decision. Only get what you want and what you want to look down at everyday! Can't wait to see what you decide on!
The GS 9F is an amazing quartz. My first GS was the SBGX261. You get the zaratsu polishing, the amazing 44GS case and it's very thin and zero maintenance. I think everyone needs a GS quartz in their collection - it's amazing.
Just go into it aware that this will be your first GS, not your last.

I agree that sweep is everything! Although I do have the Bulova Precisonist with a smooth sweep! I love that watch. Have you seen those? They are pretty incredible! It works by a 3 prong quartz tuning fork that produces a crazy 262k hertz! And thank you I agree I will have to find the dial I’m most into!

The Precisionist line is great! I haven't owned one myself, but I have some buddies that do and I have always liked those really smooth second hand sweeps on them. Honestly, if it has a high VPH or a quartz smooth sweep, I'm generally a fan. There's just something about the way it glides around the dial that just does it for me!
For me, it’s the way cool new tech, with internal spring to electrical generated power to oscillate and temp compensate, not to mention frictionless contactless magnetic braking to regulate the gears. sooooo it had to be spring drive. However, if you’re asking, then go with quartz. Can’t beat GS 10/sec per YEAR quartz

If you’re happy with the movements you should focus on the dial or something else which can make the decision easier.

My first was a quartz, exactly for financial reasons. It’s beautiful. Someday I’ll have a spring drive.

Awesome! Thank you my friend! 🙏
Spring drive is such an epic part of watch history and you should own one if you can.

Lol! Spot on! And thank you!!
I would go for spring drive. The beauty of sweeping movement in the second hand is beautiful
