Casio Love

A quick SOTC of just my Casios, to take a moment and celebrate my Casio obsession with others who understand. Since getting into horology in the past couple of years, Casio has been the biggest surprise to me. I never wore them in the past and now love them so much. The analog models in particular look so much more expensive and elegant than I expected. The value for money cannot be beat. I also discovered they have great analog watches in smaller sizes, all of which I found on Amazon. Others are from eBay or Amazon and most cost less than a night out! I honestly wear these more than any of my other watches.

Model numbers, as pictured left to right:

EAW-LTP-1215A-1A2D - 26mm dial

LTP1215A-7ACR - 26mm dial

A700WEM-7AEF

MTP-V006D-1B2

WVA-M630TDE-1AJF

A168WA-1YES

4549526253287 - 22mm dial, great little tank watch

Loving the Solar Wave Ceptor so much that I ordered another with a white dial. I have the black dial Wave Ceptor here (pictured 3rd from the right) with the titanium bracelet, another first for me and it is fantastic. The fit is perfect on my lady wrist. What do you love about Casio?

Unbeatable functionality and reliability. And that goes for the entire product line, from the ever affordable F91 to the Mudmasters and Frogmen.

First watch watch I ever bought when I was 20 years old and just finished bootcamp on Parris Island, I forget the exact model etc but I wore it every day literally for years, it took a royal beating and never let me down, I need to see if I still have it and post a pic for veterans day

Yes - love the value and the breadth across the range. The Oceanus on the left is the watch that I use whenever setting other watches to wear. Love it to wear too - my GADA pick. The ProTrek is a great sports watch and beats the GShocks for me mainly due to legibility and wearability. The one on the right is the perfect beater - cost v little but does everything I need.

If I had to criticize Casio, my main negative observation is that they have a huge array of v similar looking and specced watches and it can be overwhelming to make a decision or even just to understand the subtle differences. I know it gives you choice but sometimes too much choice can be irritating. I guess it can also be fun when you’re browsing but generally it drives me a bit nuts.

U have model # of the first two from the left? And that blue as well? Beautiful collection!

·

Fine collection! 👏👏👏 I especially like those two steel ones to the left.

I've edited the post to include model numbers. The first two from the left are smaller analog models and look so nice and elegant in person. Find myself wearing them more than my Swiss-made watches that look the same. 😊

Nice collection! Really good variety you have there. I don't have a G-Shock yet, so that's still on the list. Yes, the deluge of options can be overwhelming, I agree with you on that point.

Yes, it works for anyone. Marketed as unisex with emphasis on how thin the case is, so not the choice if you want a big chunky watch. But if you want a low profile watch with some elegance and good legibility, it does the job.

Man I love a casio 😀,

So much fun for very little money, me and my son have a casio obsession and find silly excuses to pick one up whenever we see one

I was going to encourage you to look at the Oceanus but I see you already have the Wave Cepter and, though I love my Oceanus, having both an Oceanus and a Wave Cepter has too much overlap to be a priority.

If you are looking at G Shocks then do look at the Pro Treks too. Both are big watches but Pro Treks can wear better than G Shocks depending on your wrists - I think they are a bit thinner and have more pliable straps so they don’t feel as bulky.

For hiking I go for the Pro Trek but for water sports and muddy mountain biking a G Shock feels both more robust and more expendable (i.e. cheaper!).

Have fun and enjoy the search

Love Casio! My son and I have 4 between us. We really appreciate the quality and price!

Yes, saw a youtube review that mentioned that one recently, it's the perfect blend of retro and futuristic. 😎

Absolutely. Plus, I am genetically a Bargain Hunter. It's so satisfying to find something that performs really well and has a great low price. Casio is a grail for that and so many other reasons. 💪

My wrist is almost 7" and the small band wears fine. It will probably wear even better for you! I was looking for something that resembled the Cartier Tank and the Casio certainly fills that spot for me. Looks so nice in person. I hope you enjoy it!

Exactly right! I was thinking of how much these resemble more expensive watches when I bought them. 🎯

Regarding your second paragraph, I used to have this same "problem" with Seiko. Both Seiko and Casio seem to exist solely to crank out as many different watches as possible, and not to consider or care about anything else. This used to bother me a bit but now I just embrace the chaos.

Completely agree and I shall move to “embracing the chaos” which sounds like a better frame of mind.

I do find the multiple Casios a tad harder than the multiple Seikos as with the Seikos it is often cosmetic differences but with the same movement. Whereas with the Casio digitals not only do you have the cosmetic differences but then you have to figure out if your really care about any of the module differences too - and some of the module differences are pretty minor and/or difficult to research.

For both brands it is compounded but the fact that, due to their volumes and for good or bad, their older models hang around in the system for a very long time.

I guess it all adds to the universe of watches for enthusiasts…
