First vintage & first Omega, but got ripped out of my wrist

So, here’s the thing…. I went to a watch shop on a recent trip (actually where I also saw the other Omega Constellation I posted recently with water damage on the dial).

I tried it on, It was perfect, 35mm appeared small until I put it on my wrist, the price was nice too, It was just too good. I asked to ser the movement, well, you can see that on the third photo.

So, yeah… ‘course I bought it, but here’s the thing… I used it the first time and then my evil soon-to-be-wife made a plot to rip it off my wrist… can’t blame her, but yeah, here I am, wrist naked and sad about the fact that I found the perfect vintage Omega and now its on her wrist…. 🤣

Now I have to “share it” or more like I have to ask for permission to wear it.

Does anyone else out there have a similar story?

Same reason I stopped even considering anything less than 37mm. Lost a #omega Speedmaster and a #frederiqueconstant to my wife..

And that is how the fight started...

Might just cancel the engagement altogether, ya know? 😂

Sad story man, I feel for you…

I hear ya! My wife calls it a “2 for 1” as we both “share” my watches. I just enjoy that she has caught the same watch infection that i have and we can be on the search for watches. (P.S., if you try to wear larger sizes, she will say “I can pull this 42mm off”). #marriedlife

Nope. My wife has no interest in watches!

Just get the watch back first 😉🤣

·

I don't know, man. You now have the opportunity to double the size of your collection, sharing watches, and you have a built in excuse for any future random purchases that she might question: "I bought this for you!!" 😂

She can only wear two at a time, at most, right?

·

I think it is good news! To share the watches is the best excuse to keep buying them!

I'm the wife addicted to watches. My retired husband couldn't care less about them. For Valentines he said he'll borrow and wear a watch of mine for date night. I enjoy sharing hobbies with him, so that made my day and is the best Valentine's gift already. True love. 😍😉

·

You could get even with her and wear her clothes. We won't judge.

·

See it positive, commits your good taste in watches 👍

Ouch. She has good taste at least. Imagine your wife not liking watches at all. My wife won't even wear the Apple watch I got her

·

😂. Similar thing happened to me, my 1970-ish all white, 34mm Wolbrook Worldtimer has been appropriated by my wife.

Same thing happened to my SRPD....

On the plus side, it means she's infected with watches too now 😂.

·

Looks good on her though 🤷‍♂️

Exactly what happened with this Breitling. Here it sits on my better half's wrist :D I didn't even get the chance to wear it once and now with the bracelet adjusted to her wrist, probably i'll never get the chance. But well... i enjoy seeing it on her wrist :D

I feel you. Having the bracelet adjusted to her wrist size its a sign of no return.

It only costs 100% more to go first class. By the looks of that watch on your fiancés wrist you are going first class all the way. Here's to a lifetime of sharing beautiful things.

No better answer could have been given to me! Thank you so much, I appreciate it!

Great pickup and story, I’d just be happy she was into watches. Also, the hunt ensues for your new vintage Omega now.

I’m already looking for it.

That's a good story. I had a vintage Pierre Balmain square watch in one of my watch cases. I came home one day and it was missing so naturally I go to the kid's to inquire about it to no avail. I then started looking all over the house and my wife came to ask what I was looking for. Before saying anything, I saw it on her wrist and asked her how she feels about it... She said she loved it so it's been hers ever since.

At that point there’s nothing you can do about it, except smile and enjoy looking at it on her wrist.

She is already establishing who's the boss. LOL

Oh, my man, she did that far long ago…

I feel your pain brother. The same thing has happened to my Omega Seamaster Day Date. It's on the small side, 35mm but it's a lovely watch. At least it was the last time I saw it.

At least we both got a good story to tell…

I have nothing to worry about. My wife is obsessed with her Apple Watch so my collection is safe

Would you like that she joined you in the watch side?

Lol. Sorry to hear it.

I got my partner (girlfriend) into watches, but thankfully it didn't evolve into her taking my watches or lusting after other watch purchases.

I admire her restraint and satisfaction with her one watch--a Cartier Tank I bought her 3 years ago. She admires other watches from a distance but never looks to get anything else. A lesson in gratitude for what we already have I suppose.

That is amazing. To be fair, you got her a pretty insane watch.

You're a good man. You did the right thing - you made her happy by allowing her to steal your gorgeous watch.

Now go buy another one - secretly. 😉

I earned it! Right? 😂

Click bait...? No! At first I read the post and thought you were in London and got the crap beat out of you for a "vintage Omega." Be thankful + grateful that your wife shares in your passion for watches. I have purchased watches for my wife and two daughters and they have no/zero/zilch/ningún interest. They use their phones to tell time...

One day it all might just click, or may I say tick? Sorry….

Appreciation will come in due time, or so I think.

Love watches that work on both ladies and men. Hopefully my SO doesn’t take mine 😂

Watch out! No pun intended.

·

As the "thief" in my household... consider that one lost and give yourself permission to pick again... that's what my hubby does. Lol

Thank you! This is the kind of encouragement I needed. Validation in this regard goes a long way.

Not anymore, cause then I’d have to buy twice the watches!
