Great discussion! My Speedy is the Hasalite, can be worn on the Moon. I'm not planning on going anytime soon but... I suppose most in this conversation were not in their early teens, 7/20/1969, watching a grainy image, on a black and white TV, connected to the world via rabbit ears. Wow, I thought I was alone but it's comforting to know many others are afflicted. Of the majors I own too many Seiko, Casio, and Omega. Of the micros I own too many Farer and Christopher Ward. I could go multiple on Tudor and Nivada Grenchen. I have my reasons. You realize this is pathologic.
Many reasoned and well thought out comments. The marketing comments are spot on. I have come close but never pulled the trigger on a GS. I have bought (too) many Seiko. The reason I will own one, Springdrive, a totally unique approach to a self-driven timepiece. Runner up, the Hi-Beat 80 hour reserve. These are marvels of ingenuity and engineering.
