Are there any recommendations for a diver?

For some reason I never feel a connect towards a diver style watch here are my reasons

  1. Watch head is little too chunky

  2. Fluted style bezel are not my thing

  3. When everything adds up it increa the thickness and the actual surface of watch face reduces

I do have a timex q reissue because it is not too chuncy to wear. I did try to convince my self to get a SRPD so many times but every time i tried it on never felt like going forward.

Its not a FOMO or anything but really like to have a diver style watch in my collection if it checks all my requirements and somewhere near that srpd price range.

Wanted to see if watch crunch fam has any suggestions.

A Lorier Neptune. It wears smaller than the more tactical divers and has a contemporary feel.

To me, it sounds like you don't like dive watches. I'd suggest you don't get one. Watch collecting shouldn't be about ticking boxes. What kind of watches DO you like?

Yeah, @Chronologics has a point. I haven't seen one in the metal, but all Lorier watches look good to me. The Neptune included. And it's not too chunky.

Currently out of stock but they’re coming back next year Clemence Watches’Photic Diver.

Otherwise the bezel will be an issue with this one but it hits your requirements otherwise. Christopher Ward’s C60 Sapphire

Or go for a super compressor like the Leven II Titanium from Farer.

no external bezel.

Never new such beauties existed , thank you

When I first got into watches I felt like I had to have one of every type.

A kind of pokemon mentality.

I then realised I don't like many dive, field or flieger watches and I love small dress, complicated and chronograph watches. Especially vintage.

The only dive-style watch I regularly wear is a 36mm Tissot Seastar quartz because I find it's small enough to be comfy, is under 10mm and has a thermocompensated movement.

Go with what you like.

No problem they’re all British Independents so unlessyou live in the UK you probably won’t be able to try them on first, but they’re all great divers and not too big

·

Here is another CW to check out. C60 Pro 300.

Your choice of 38, 40, or 42mm. Reasonable thickness under 12mm.

Have you looked at all the skin divers available...I think you'd find the thinner profile you're looking for

·

Lorier Neptune or Seiko Solar 38.5

Last pic, the Neptune is in the middle, between the Hydra SIII (top) and Falcon SIII bottom.

Sounds like there have been some great recommendations here so far!! I love my Neptune, and the Clemence photic looks great too. Do have a look and see if any of these new suggestions tickle your fancy. Maybe they might change your mind on dive watches :D

But at the end of the day, as a few others have said only go for a diver if you find you really like it! No point in buying a watch just a tick a box 😉

I am a CW fan so I would say take a look at those. Also vintage style divers tend to wear quite thin. This is my CW Dartmouth on my 7.25 inch wrist

Some honorable mentions are the Marathon MSAR 36mm and the nodus sport/deep

Loving the Nodus x AWWC Sector Deep. Especially due to it's destro crown.

And even for a rugged, super legible dive watch, wears very compact and comfortable. And the overall finishing has impressed me.

I'd argue the Sector Deeps are THE affordable alternative to the Pelagos.

For a good looking diver that's a bit different I recommend the Serica. 39mm, 12.2 thick, ceramic, sapphire, COSC

·

I second anyone who mentioned a CW Trident 300 here. Get it in 38mm. It has a very slim profile. Very elegant.

·

Perhaps look at some classic looking dive watches. Baltic and Christopher Ward have some nice offerings with sapphire bezels which really make the watch look great

·

GoldenEye Omega SMP.

Bezel only moves when you put your palm flat on the crystal and twist, 11.4mm thick so thinner than most field watchs 👍

·

If Diver bezels aren't your thing, I would look at the CW Super Compressor. An internal bezel really changes the look. The CW has a ratcheting unidirectional bezel and as a bonus is a true super compressor. Looks great on a wide variety of straps too.

You're not looking at the right watches. I have a Seiko ISO 38mm diver, and it's only 11.2mm in thickness, the same thickness as my Tudor BB54. My Glycine Combat Sub 39, which has 300m of WR, is around 11mm thick. I also dislike thick cases, and it is prevalent among divers. Some claim the thickness is needed due to WR, but I disagree; and my collection proves you can have up to 300m of WR in a thin case.

Got to check these pieces out

Both the Tudor BB54 and BB58 are relatively thin, below 12mm. The bezels aren't thick as well. Simple and elegant, not too commanding on the wrist. I'm biased as I own a BB58.

If you don't like bezels, you can look up at the Longines Legend Diver, available in 36mm diameter. Also below 12mm in thickness.

How about the Oris Divers 65? Current lineup available in 38mm (With stainless steel bezel and very bright coloured dial) and 40mm. The way the case and bracelet tapers down, they look very slim on the wrist. Thickness about 12mm.
