My Montbalnc Geosphere is so noisey and rattly especially when driving. I love it but the sound tempers the wearing enjoyment for me. Had it a year it’s got no worse, run exceptionally well but it’s just so bloody noisey, especially for the price tag.
Considered selling it because it bothers me on a bad day.
And for genuinely limited pieces I can appreciate the practice protects the true collector, for someone like Rolex who apparently actually make millions of watches its creates a distaste. It’s something I am agiatated by but I appreciate for others it won’t be an issue.
But in the long run, I feel the majority of watch collectors pay over the top due to deliberate false marketing or spin or whatever you want to call it. Small manufacturers manufacturing small batches I will give a pass too, but the big boys who pretend to be small batch not so much.
P.s. it’s a beautiful watch, congratulations.
Beautiful watch but the elitism of having to be a horological ninja with reference number memory and the secret handshake practiced so your doing it in your sleep, turns me off completely.
If your brand is so pretentious that it won’t sell to Joe Public, even if Joe can afford your product, then my money is going elsewhere.
It’s one element of watch collecting that is making me consider selling up, buying that one piece that covers most bases and calling it a day.
