Sorry, I did this...

My rule changes for the #1wc sometimes have unintended consequences.

Image

It appears that I have encouraged 1WC participants to be, let's say, exuberant in collecting badges. So, to alleviate some of the pain here is a rule addendum: the participant who accumulates the most badges as per the previous rule will also get an asterisk.

Image

Yes, this is blatantly unfair.

Wear another watch.

You know I can delete comments right?

Ok I tried deleting comments, but it didn't work.😂

The badge is irreversible. 😂

Dear @WatchCrunch , I don't want the Hairy-Wrist, and Twitter badges anymore.

Please ignore my emails.

·

I did feel a bit dirty, but I regret nothing... Although I will have to see how it pans out. Maybe there will be some regret...

Image

I actually have a super busy day IRL today, so I'll tone it down, and just keep up with the comments I already made.

I like the new twist, now we are all walking on the edge.

Follow me on Twitter. I will be finishing up my rubbish book there!

@elonmusk could be my Twitter ID

The mistake was mine. I fail to understand human nature sometimes.

Really @Aurelian? An ex post facto rule?

Image

"The sentiment that ex post facto laws are against natural right is so strong in the United States, that few, if any, of the State constitutions have failed to proscribe them. ...The federal constitution indeed interdicts them in criminal cases only; but they are equally unjust in civil as in criminal cases, and the omission of a caution which would have been right, does not justify the doing what is wrong. Nor ought it to be presumed that the legislature meant to use a phrase in an unjustifiable sense, if by rules of construction it can be ever strained to what is just."

— Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Isaac McPherson, August 13, 1813

How about just a reset from today, or elimination of the rule altogether...seems far more fair to me. Also, how can you argue with Thomas Jefferson?!

Maybe, but I would say that it's not 100% your fault. Maybe you didn't see, or expect it to go crazy like it did, but I have long been taught, that no one can make you do something you don't want to do. So we are partially at fault as well. I'm clearly too stubborn for my own good, my second Haiku wasn't really a joke...

I hope that I haven't offended anyone, or created any animosity. I'll try to make it right if I have.

On the upside, from my point of view, no one was harmed (I hope), Just the general site annoyed, which means that we can learn, grow, and move on to better things, hopefully better people, from this.

Thanks for running this, and sorry that you have to deal with the fallout of some of our actions during the challenge.

I agree. We need a badge count reset. To be fair, all rules were written in advance so far. This new rule broke the traditions.

@Aurelian can I delete my account and recreate?

I tried this on my wife's account. All badges are removed afterwards.

Really neat.

·

Likewise, I'll apologize to the masses for the excessive posting. I'm a pretty happy-go-lucky guy and my sense of humor skews towards sarcasm, which has undoubtedly been on display during the last 24 hours. No offense was intended -- I was just trying to play the game the only way I know how to do anything in life -- by giving my all to it.

·

I did 7 - maybe 8 if I join the HWC… I’ll stop there because I was effectively starting fights on posts that were nearly a year old. I’m also tired…

·

I am trying to rein in your worst impulses, since you seem unable to do so.

I expected lots of vacuous comments on old threads. I expected stupid polls (is there any other kind?) I did not expect stupid polls with 25 more stupid "comments". I feel sorry for the rest of the forum. They already get too many posts of dubious quality as it is. For the first time I believe the 1WC is making WC a worse place to be, not just for the contestants, but for everyone.

I am not going to "reset" a rule. I will reconsider this on Tuesday when the Bites post drops. I understand the ex post facto (the best kind of facto) nature of this, but how else to temper your behavior? This is not even a "knock-out" rule. It is merely an obstacle. Only @accutron is in any danger. I really thought that some of you would sit this one out. Props to @Puffin for refusing to lower his personal standards in @Max's photography theme. I thought that there would be more. Creating stupid memes is obviously not an insult to my personal dignity but I respect @GasWorks for saying "no más".

So, let's play it out and see where it goes. Playing for second or third is harder than playing for first.

Sorry, I re read the last few comments, I must have scrolled past that one earlier.

·

Anyone want a good deal on tile in or around Hyderabad? I know a guy....

·

i haven’t been interested in #1wc. and i’ve been fine with y’all doing what you do. but i swear if y’all ruin WC or break anything…i’m gunna…i’m gunna…i’m just gonna stick around anyway.

·

I genuinely have no idea what’s going on anymore - it’s supposed to be wearing one watch for an extended period of time, and now it’s just Saw… shall we play a f***ing game? Can we call this soon, it’s getting a little bit silly? We have people with asterisks who would have been kicked out a week ago (when did we have a lives system in a #1wc?), so let’s just poll it with the 4 without and be done. Seriously… as a popularity contest I’m effectively conceding, so let the public pick a winner. I can wear the watch forever, but this has gone beyond just watches, it’s breaking the platform.

Yes, please restart 1 watch challenge. Sincerely, me.

Yeah, I wasn’t advocating for that…just a reset or repeal of the rule. Either way it’s been handled by @Aurelian.

Sorry didnt mean to speak for you, just a josh at how ridiculous it all is and a vague reference to how I felt watchburned by being eliminated due to a programming fault in the site

Nothings going on. I guess we’re taking a weekend break. Check the stockmarket or something. 😭

No Saturday update. I think @Aurelian is still recovering (justifiably) from Thursday's...well, events. That, or he's busy thinking up other ways to punk us... 😂
