HELP - I think I want to trade for a medium

I absolutely love so much about this watch, the versatility, subtle tone of the gold and quick release strap system to name a few but…… I think I went for the wrong size. Catching a glance of my current large in a mirror from 10ft and just can’t help feel like the proportions of the medium would be better suited. Shall I trade for a medium?

Yes, if you’re uncertain about the size, by all means. But if I were you, I’d test out the medium first in order to be sure.

The medium would be too small, in my opinion. This one looks great on the wrist.

·

I believe and see in the photo that the watch looks perfect on you, the lug to lug fits very well on your wrist

Thanks! I did try on both before buying but was swayed towards the large by the AD and just by general dimensions rather than aesthetic. Just have this nag now that the large is just a bit too large! Would defo try on again before pulling the trigger

·

Obviously it only matters what you think but IMO that watch looks great on your wrist

Appreciate it… I have captured here in a complementary way as my wrist are quite small at about 6.5ish in. I don’t think it looks awful but just that a medium may look better. Another photo for reference

Still think it’s perfectly fine, but i do prefer watches on the bigger end of the spectrum, most of my warches are 40+ case size.

In the end it matters how YOU feel about, not how any of us do.

·

Very true, good to get some perspective from an objective point of view. Seems most seem to think it looks a good fit… no snap decisions I think are the way forward here!

·

I disagree with those who say the medium would be too small for you. For the proportions of the Santos, I think medium would work better for you. IMO

·

I think (see my post about my Galbee) that the Santos was made to be smaller.

That said, the one you have is a beauty.

·

Do you care about the date function? If not, and if you have doubts about the large, you owe it to yourself to try out the medium.

·

I have to agree with you that the medium might actually be a better size for you based on the last image posted. Most sales agents will encourage guys to buy the large, I was shopping for watches for my daughters last December at a Cartier boutique and noticed the medium Santos appears to be the watch of choice for ladies these days. I am not a part of that cohort but guys are buying smaller while ladies are buying bigger watches. In fact I just received an email from a watch enthusiast friend who sells watches through his own small office complaining about the trend towards smaller case sizes even with Panerai and especially Breitling. His best most loyal clients still want watches bigger than 40mm.

·

For sure medium size, for your wrist.

Absolutely definitely medium.

·

The medium is better for me. I don’t think the Cartier should have a date first of all. And the proportions are just right.

I think it’s safe to say this one has really split opinions! Do really appreciate all the feedback/perspectives. A few things have dawned on me I’ve the last 24 hours. I really feel the perfect fit for me would be between the two therefore I’m not sure if I’ll just feel the same with the medium…just not quite right….also the proportions/optics change significantly on a strap which I intend to do more of and I actually think the large wears better on a strap. Also, the deal would have to be right

A meduim would have looked much more demure. Not only that not as legible.

·

Yes I prefer the medium size too whithout date

Only your brain and eyeballs are calibrated to your wrist. The only way to choose is compare them both side by side.

·

If I was in your shoes I would have the medium. The large doesn't look too bad on you, but I generally prefer smaller watches. The two-tone Santos in medium is my perfect watch.

·

Get the medium. Maybe it's just me, but I think vintage styled watches at modern proportions look weird. Kind of like a cartoon version of itself. Unless you have an 8 inch or larger wrist, anyway.

Giving it a day out today. Bright sunshine on a freezing cold day in London. This watch way made to be looked at in the sunshine, especially the TT! Will find a medium somewhere to try today although unlikely a TT as ADs don’t seem to stock.

·

If there is any doubt, there is no doubt! I'm looking at watch which is 100% what I want astheticaly, but I know 42mm is too big. I might still buy it though. Wear what you like and don't worry about the size, even if you know it's wrong.

·

Ok - I went and tried the medium yesterday, sat with it for some time and I just couldn’t adjust to how small it seems in the flesh. This watch is a real enigma as the more I see it in photos the more it looks perfect but in the flesh it just feels very dainty. In my heart of heart I think the truth is that I really want a 37mm version (please Cartier 🙏🏼) but in the absence of that I actually think I’m back in camp large for me. I’m sure that many will feel that the medium fits me better…I must admit in photographs that’s probably true but it just seems to photograph much bigger than it feels/looks on the wrist. Thanks for everyone’s contributions!

Cartier sizes are 'interesting'. I have a slightly over 7 inch wrist and go for the medium. Having said that, I looks good on you, and I do prefer watches that are 40mm and under, so very much down to personal taste.

·

No mate that one fits perfectly and one I wish I could afford it's just gorgeous.

Honestly I’ve just come to terms with the fact that I want a 37mm that doesn’t exist so would bare a slight bit of discomfort either way from a “feel” perspective.
