New Arrival post TT Santos Departure 🚨

Ok so here it goes…my “heaviest hitter” to date has arrived and I can’t quite believe in own it tbh. The term grail gets thrown around a lot here but I hope many of you would agree that a 18238 president is hard to argue with. Full set from 1990 with a Rolex service card in 2015. Case and fluted bezel are in excellent shape and bracelet is ok on the stretch front but have decided I want it crisp and solid so it’s heading off to Martins at SwissRefurb shortly for a full restoration ready for much wrist time in the spring and summer 😁

That’s a home run!

·

I’m not sure there is a better “it” or only watch… read as grail out there.

Congrats, def take before and after pics of the bracelet resto! I’m sure this piece will be enjoyable for years to come.

Che figo spudendo! 🇮🇹

·

Congrats it’s an amazing watch and definitely what I’d consider a heavy hitter. Sounds like you got a great total package as well with the 2015 service card

T approved. Love it.

Can I ask please how much the bracelet resto is going to cost?

Ouch 😬…. £2.2k so not cheap but worth it IMO. I have spoke to Martins on the phone and he’s an absolute gent. He does no replacement only restoration and build up. Full new 18crt pins and sends you vids of him doing the work. He has a workshop in the Uk and one in Latvia to avoid import taxes for Europe customers. Check out his work on instagram ‘Swiss Refurb’ and trust pilot reviews

Yikes. Was expecting you to say about £1.5k but okay, given the labour, materials and skill required I guess given these are what, from about £12k-£15k depending condition, dial etc that’s not too bad to factor in to bring it back to almost, if not, “as new” condition?

I think knowing this I’d be more inclined to actively hunt out an older piece now. Thanks for sharing that info mate, appreciate it.

Another question if I may? So how would this work for insurance purposes? Will you get it re-appraised after the resto work to factor in that not inconsiderable cost? Because it’s certainly going to add to the value right?!

And for the LOLZ have you asked Rolex what a totally new bracelet costs? 😂

·

From an insurance perspective the value of a vintage is always going to be somewhat hard to negotiate should the worst happen but I have been with the same company for years now (as part of my home insurance) and unfortunately have had to claim. I was very impressed by the service though. I provided pics of my items and then like for like conditioned items found online and they paid out so I would just factor this myself.

Re Rolex LOLZ indeed….they want to keep your old one and send you a new one for about £10k 😑.

Overall mine was a full set, case and bezel amongst the best I’ve seen and keeping time to within 1sec per day when tested…I’ll be £16k all in after refurb.

·

Congrats on your new watch mate wear it in good health and enjoy ever second with it! 😁

Greetings Simon 😉

Oh! Congratulations!

Big T definitely approves. Iconic
