Which would you pick... N Why?

The heritage of the El Primero movement n that of the Hanhart Flyback Chronograph are some of the more known movements by watchfam.

I've long considered either to be my choice should I ever get a Chronograph again. They will be my first mechanical Chrono...

However, I'll be getting only one.

Which would you pick... N Why? Please share your thoughts on the comments below. Thanks. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hanhart for me- itโ€™s the real Steve McQueen watch. Also itโ€™s supporting an independent brand which is important to me.

This video that tours their facility really made me a fan of them and put them on my radar. They are real watchmakers who take pride in their craft.

Saw that too. The way they took in young apprentices n the machines they used, the facility n research equipment n even kept mechanisms from yore, was simply beyond comprehension...

One can feel their passion n their sense of duty n responsibility, towards the trade n the customer... Those are some of the reasons that I'm in awe...

N the fact that Steve McQueen chose the 417 ES as one of his personal watches n wore it for his races too.

Hanhart - in addition to what @playswiththelight said, I like the look of it much more than any other chronograph, it's quite unique in the world of chronographs. The coined bezel with the cherry red stripe ๐Ÿ‘Œ

I own the hanhart, it's my favourite watch. That being said if you have the money for the Zenith go for it.

ยท

Zenith el primero, the 1st. Automatic chronograph. To me the choice is clear but I do own a bunch of vintage Zeniths.

Indeed. That coin edge n red stripe did speak to me too. ๐Ÿ˜

I picked the Hanhart 417 ES because it doesn't have ugly overlapping subdials & a hideous 4:30 date window.

Glad to hear that you are happy with your Hanhart. Wear it in good health mate. ๐Ÿ˜Š

El Primero. The First! Such an iconic watch with an incredible movement.

No bad choices here! Wanted to vote for both ๐Ÿค

I know riiiight... Hence my dilemma... ๐Ÿ˜

That particular dial of the Chronomaster is my personal favorite of the line, so I'm going with that as it is near the top of my covet list. Nothing against the Hanhart except the red pip, and that's a minor thing.

ยท

Zenith, for the history.

ยท

Out of these two I would choose Hanhart. It is also flyback. But mainly due to design, they are diff concept of chrono ( bi and tri compax layout ) and I can't stand that Zenith date placement.

It is worth mentioning that Zenith is superior watch as such but it costs almost 3x more than Hanhart.

ยท

Beyond the historic significance, you're getting a much more compact, svelte and versatile watch from Zenith so that would be my pick, but as above, there are no bad choices here!

ยท

The el promote is such a historically important movment and zenith is definitely a teir step above that of Hanhart. Zenith is on par with Rolex

ยท

If I would, I'd get the Hanhart because of its vintage design.

Well put indeed mate. I also like the fact that they have the edge on being Both Swiss n German-made, at the same time... ๐Ÿ˜

Quality over quantity. I like Zenith better than Hanhart.

I love my Hanhart 417, probably my current favourite. I like that itโ€™s manual wind, the sub dials donโ€™t overlap the numbers and no date window.

The Zenith looks incredibly hard to tell the time with those hands.

Agreed. I wonder if that's why they came up witha 38mm versions that has the coloured dials n subdials... ๐Ÿ˜
