Nomos Club Campus or Tudor 1926

Got accepted for a scholarship recently so my parents want to give me something to celebrate and gave me a budget for a watch. I am stuck between choosing the Tudor 1926 with the opaline dial and blue hands and the white Nomos Club Campus.

The Tudor is a billion times better looking and it's a better known brand.

Plus the leather industry is kind of a nightmare which would personally put me off the other one.

Congratulations on your scholarship! Whichever you choose, I hope it’s a great reminder over the course of your life of your parents pride in your achievement.

Congratulations on the scholarship.  Ultimately, the final choice should be made based on which one appeals to you the most. They are both great choices, and I don't think you'd go wrong with ether, but some points to ponder:

-Based on the photos, the Tudor has the advantage in terms of legibility, since the hands on the Nomos seem to blend in with the dial. Of course, other color combinations of the Club Campus may not have that same issue.

-the lugs on Nomos watches tend to be quite long, which can make them wear larger than their stated dimensions - make sure that you try them on to ensure they are suitable for your wrist size

-there are a few differences that boil down to personal taste, with no "right" answer. For example, the use of the California dial on the Nomos versus the all Arabic numerals on the Tudor, the use of small seconds versus center seconds, the "smiley face" writing on the Tudor dial and the small date window on the Tudor

I personally feel that the Nomos Club has an edgier, more modern feel than the Tudor, so I'd personally lean towards it, but being a random stranger on the internet, my opinion should not factor into your decision making process at all.

Best of luck with your choice.

Congratulations on your scholarship! Both are great watches, but guessing on your age, Tudor may seem too dressy/formal. NOMOS should give more vibrant look and go well with your college life outfits.

·

NOMOS.

Well, it’s very cool and understated - and as a bonus…. you can use the word Bauhaus and explain what it means to people on campus….all pretentious like :)

Then listen to Kraftwerk.

I voted Tudor because it's a more timeless design. Something that you'll always be able to wear, even into your retirement years.

·

Congratulations on the scholarship!

If I was choosing for me, I'd be stuck also, but would likely give the nod to the Nomos, by a seconds hand.

·

Tudor.

·

Congratulations on the scholarship! Well earned I am sure. You and your family have to be proud.  The NOMOS is beautiful first look at both together. Tudor has such a big lineup.  The Tudor is timeless and looks awesome on strap. Hope I'm not confusing you.

·

NOMOS! club campus is such a great GADA watch and the alpha movement is great. One big consideration should be that the Nomos is hand wound while the Tudor is automatic, you may prefer one or the other

·

I was trying to make nearly this same decision recently. Though I was looking at the NOMOS Club Campus Neomatic.

I ended up with the Tudor because I thought it leaned a little dressier which is a hole I was trying to fill.

Of course I couldn't stop thinking about the NOMOS and end up getting the Club Campus 38 Future Orange a few months later.

·

Nomos! More modern and cool... Tudor maybe another model and later in life! Enjoy

·

Now I will state up front that I am not really a Nomos fan, not because they dont make nice watches but that in general I think those watches are overpriced for what they offer in comparison to other offering from different brands in the same style of looks. I am speaking specifically of dial design. So that being said I definetly like that Tudor more... though I think it is overpriced also IF I were to buy a Tudor that is what I buy since I think that is one of their best offerings in the price point vs quality.

·

I would say not NOMOS as I prefer to not acknowledge that German watchmaking is even a thing since most of their products offend my eyes. But if you're young, the expensive TImex Weekender may be up your alley. At least the NOMOS is a tad smaller. And nobody will recognize it as an expensive watch, so it's more theft-resistant. The Tudor looks nice though.

·

Congrats on the scholarship!

I would stick with Nomos here. It’s completely different and cool and edgy... from the colors to the Cali dial. Just 100% German cool. I tend to shy away from popular stuff and watches I’m likely to see on others, so I might be the weirdo here. All I’m trying to say is

Recommend going to a local watch shop and checking out different selections. For the price, definitely not stuck with Nomos or Tudor. I was waiting for a Tudor 1926 myself, but while waiting picked up a Longines Master Collection instead.

However, if you are set on one of the two, I vote for the Tudor 1926. A great entry into Tudor.

·

Congratulations on the scholarship. They are both beautiful watches but i would go for the Nomos, its fun and more interesting to look at. You can always get the Tudor when you start working, to commemorate that milestone in your life 😀

·

They are both great watches. There is no winner and loser, just deferring one to a later date.
Couple of key things before making your decision:
1. As posted in other comments, go try them both on and see if one jumps out at you more than the other. Make sure to look in a mirror to get a distance perspective too
2. Take a trusted female - your mum, your girlfriend etc. Someone who will be brutally honest with you about whether or not the watch suits you and/or whether a smaller/larger size would be better
Enjoy your watch when you get it

Just to echo you should try them both on before making a decision as it may make the choice very straightforward. I have a 7.25in wrist and wouldn't wear any Nomos over 36/37mm due to those long lugs. Having said that, I would also go with the Tudor 1926 in 36mm as I feel the vintage look works better in the smaller size...

·

Nomos is a highly regarded brand with top in house movements and a well ageing design, Bauhaus will always look spectacular.

This Tudor- I looked at it myself - is the entry level to the brand, at a very good price, however it has no in house movement if that is important to you. 100 M water resistance, metal bracelet, high legibility and a date function makes it a very useable and well fitting watch in all occasions

·

I love the Club Campus, and I have a 38mm nacht version. I also have a Tudor Black Bay 58 925. Both brands are great and you can’t go wrong, but the Nomos is a modern classic.

·

Congrats mate 😉

Let me entertain you a thought:

Don’t go for something this expensive just yet. Shop around, get something nice, but save most of your budget.
