Rolex 1908

Stopped in the AD yesterday to see about the new Tudor BB58 and or what my chances are of getting a Pepsi or Skydeweller and got show this gem instead. It was the first one the AD has seen since it was released. Super light and classy. I know Rolex is known for sports watches but they knocked this outta the park.

Classy piece. First Rolex in a long time I really like. Cool color scheme this as well 👌🏻

·

Beautiful watch. I really want the ice-blue dial version.

·

Did you get it????

·

Love the handset on the 1908. Looks great!

·

It's nice. But it seems sort of a generic attempt at a dress watch.

Hahaha no it was for a different customer. Even if it was for sell, it was a little outta my price range at the moment.

·

It looks like it would be a perfectly okay 34mm watch. Some people seem to like the drab gray dials, I hear.

·

Looks good on your wrist!

·

Great looking Calatrava, I mean Rolex. Joking aside, a genuinely stunning watch. Was it available to buy?

·

I’m still waiting for my AD to get one in. Been eyeballing this since last year. Looks great.

·

I hope you didn’t fall for the trap?

·

Wow, great looking Rolex indeed!

·

Beautiful! Case size?

·

I think the Rolex is lovely, but I MUCH prefer this and it's about £2300.

I agree with you 100%. For a dress watch I believe there are far better options. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking in the same price range, higher or lower. At the lower end, both Longines and the Raymond Weil watches have me very excited. The RW Millesime moonphase in plated gold is absolutely stunning. At the higher end the VC patrimony line offers some classic designs as do the JLC master collection. And then there’s the microbrands.

·

They’re pretty great looking right?

Whilst the 6119g is going to be a lot harder to get, I think for the price I’d go this way.

Have to imagine that the 1908 is a very savvy way to get in an AD’s good books though. Potentially on the way to the Patek realistically!

·

Probably the 1908 cuz I’m in the need of a dress watch. However the ranger is a great choice

Beautiful! Case size?

40mm. Strap is loose in the pic. Fits very well.

What trap?

Come on you know the Rolex Trap you go in there expecting to buy one watch you had yours eyes on and they talk you into buying one you don’t really want. Sounds like they were trying to get you to buy it to put your name on the made up list. That’s how I read it.

Agreed that’s the nicest one I’ve seen

·

This is actually the first Rolex in a long time I’ve placed in a grail slot in my imagination Lol

·

Definitely a good looking watch. Would like to check it out but I don't think my AD has received ok be yet. Even if I loved it, I'd still be unlikely to buy at what they are asking for it and because I don't care to add anything dressy right now.

·

That is slick!

If I’m spending Tudor or Rolex money on a time piece there ain’t not fooling me. I’m getting what I want, no trapping me lol

I apologize if I came off as rude. I just hear stories like this all the time guy walks into Rolex AD expecting a Rolex Sub gets talked into a Dress Watch lol.

Not at all. I hear stories but personally I’ve never had a bad experience in my AD. They know me by first name as do I them. I’ve build a good relationship with them and I would encourage people to do the same. You never know when someone passes on a watch you want and you’re who they think of next.
