Frederique constant love?

Heres a question, why does FC not get more love in the watch world? They seem really innovative and have some beautiful (and some admittedly dated) designs.

Particularly the flyback chronograph pictured. Looks to me like a beautiful watch and a lovely alternative to the Patek 5170.

What do we think? Anyone had hands on with this piece? Interested in some crunchy opinions!

They don't get a whole lot of love because they're a company without much history behind them which made homage watches exclusively for a very long time.  Recently they've come out with some original and excellent pieces.

I love FC and I agree with you, FC not only have amazing in house movements but also have this  elegant "Patek/Vacheron" approach on their design.

I have one eye on this moonphase for a while, the only problem is that other watches keep getting priority on my list. Someday I will get this beauty.

I’ve always thought them beautiful and affordable. Out of my price range unfortunately.

They make good stuff, but I've never been 'grabbed' by any of their designs. Their Heritage collections all look a bit too much like Breguet/Patek ( I mean heavily 'inspired' 😀). the modern stuff is a bit uncertain/confused in looks, compared to similarly priced pieces from other mid-tier Swiss. It's shame, because there's something earnestand appealing about FC that deserves some love, I just havent found exactly what it is yet...

I like this one, though at msrp there's several other watches I'd get first.

Their entry-level stuff is affordable but not inspiring, their high-end stuff is inspiring but not affordable. People who like their high-end stuff exclusive get irritated by the very presence of their entryl-level range. I am cheap though. But they seem to add value to their watches only on the horological front, not by watch design.

I like my fc. Nice, dress watch. I tend to have the need for a dressier watch because of work. And when I've worn it, I've gotten some nice comments.

Agree, I think FC is just beginning to build a name now as a brand with its own design ethos. I’m sure there’s some good FCs to be had that aren’t just homages.

I've owned two back in the day. They were nice but I don't like how they use gold plating for some of their pieces.

I'm a big fan of the brand, but a lot of their lineup unfortunately gets a "This is a great watch! But..." from me.

For example, I love the new monolothic movement, but the open heart kills it for me. I like the slimline moonphase, but it's bigger than I'd want to wear (42mm). I think the Classics Index is a perfect every day watch, but I already own watches that look similar. (I did convince my friend to buy one tho, and since it's his only watch it's perfect for him). They also have lots of good quartz options, but I just don't have any reason to buy them. They are a brand I frequently recommend, but I don't think I see myself buying one anytime soon, if ever. Though I am always excited to see their new releases!

My latest purchase is #frederiqueconstant Vintage Rally Healey and still in the honeymoon period. Loving it

They have a perpetual calendar within 10k range. Don’t have to sell a kidney for something like that.. just starve for few years

They have high horology designs without the high horology for a fraction of the cost. Obviously the quality isn’t at that level but they sure do look similar. I’m a big fan! More 38mm options and I’d buy one.

·

They make an automatic perpetual calendar tourbillon. For under 20k. That's the most bananas value I've ever seen.

My Dad actually just picked up a Blue dialled perpetual calendar of theirs…my one gripe?  No running seconds.
