Oops, hello!

Here I am posting and commenting away and I missed the welcome post! So, without further ado...

Hi! I'm Yarko. Watch enthusiast (big surprise on this site) among many other things.

First got into watches as a child hearing about the the tritium illuminated watch my grandfather wore as a chef on a train. Then I sort of lost track of them as my attention turned to school, girls and a couple of decades of racing cars. It was at an F1 race in Hungary in 2009 that I saw an ad for this watch, and the new obsession began:

As we do, soon after acquiring it I started looking at other pieces, especially after my brother picked up a few vintage divers cheap online. Shortly afterward I discovered Seiko, and my first automatic watch, the SeaUrchin:

From there I dabbled with many others, microbrands and more, keeping a few, selling many others. I found this gem by happenstance, brand new sitting in a shop in the tiny village of Koya in Japan.

Eventually I made my way to Swiss watches with this, the Doxa Sub1200t my first "grail" and a watch I still adore and have worn on nearly a dozen dives:

I'll share more on these and others and even do some reviews as time permits. Happy to have found this community and hope to meet some of you some day. I'm based in Vancouver Canada and aim to host a meet up soon.

If you followed my new Instagram @watch.yarko.go I'd appreciate it and I'll certainly follow you as well. My other insta profile @yarko.on.the.go is more focused on travel and film photography.

Cheers!

Welcome!!, Very complete Welcome post, without a doubt those Doxa have a mythical soul and very funny colors, however on my wrist they feel like a tank, but I'm seeing these new sub200 and I think that's where my path will go, Enjoy this network that has a very good atmosphere.

Thanks! You know, I bought mine without ever seeing it in person and found it fit like a glove on my 6.5"(ish) wrist. You feel it's presence, but once used to the heft it dissapears. That said the 200 would indeed likely be an easier fit! I actually wear mine diving and find the 1200 sized just right for legibility underwater (and above), the 200 -in photos anyway- seems a touch small maybe, but its certainly a well loved piece!
