Grand Seiko Snowflake goes quartz

So this is something that’s gone right to the top of my wishlist. SBGX355 : a 9F Snowflake ❄️ in 37mm ( with a 44.6 lug to lug. It is titanium as you’d expect. I might have preferred a steel version. ( oh god I’m already nitpicking) still … thoughts?

This looks pretty cool. I like that they brought this dial to the entry level version as they are usually pretty basic. What’s msrp on this one?

€4200 according to the article which seems a tad high maybe for a 9F? Maybe not.

Really wish GS had more images on their site …like the case back…crazy idea right?

I haven’t even looked at their site. It’s so bad visual-wise eh? I saw this on Fratello

I have the 29mm version of that and I suspect this new 37mm will be just as good or better. The high accuracy quartz is insane. I got +1sec last year, over the whole year.

The dial is beautiful, the hands are lovely and everything is just precise and perfect and sharp and clean

Hmmm 🤔

So it’s $3800 on GS website

If Rolex made there Pepsi Sub into a quartz movement people would pay 10k for it lol. This GS to me seems perfectly priced.

Good point. $3800 seems absolutely fair. Somehow that sounds a lot cheaper than €4200 😂

Bringing GS to the people! 👊

This is a really cool release and something that I could very much see myself picking up. The SBGX261/263 (same case in steel but plain dials) is $2200. So $3800 seems like a pretty big jump. Titanium is a big plus for me and I would love a snowflake dial in a more wearable size. Definitely a win from me

Love seeing more higher end quartz models from GS! I wouldn’t pay $3800 for this but once they get onto the used market I’ll be seriously considering this one.

One thing that occurred to me is their 9F GMT models are $3300 and even though this has no complication, they wanted to price it higher than those as the Snowflake is kinda the flagship of the brand in most folks head. Then you add Ti which obviously doesn’t cost *that much, but you add it to the recipe along with that dial. They’ll get away with it. Do I wish it was $2700? Yes

They just put the bare minimum on their site, I love their products, but you really have to dig to gather information on all their offerings.

GS/Seiko should be proud of their quartz. It's high quality, easy, super reliable for the people who want a nice watch to grab and not worry about. I just don't understand the quartz hate.

·

This release warrants a trip to the AD to see it in the metal and try it on the wrist. The SD snowflake felt a touch too big for me but this version could be a perfect grab and go.

·

Ohhhh take my money I didn't want it anyway ❄️🤣😂😬

·

I love the dial and the eternal simplicity. But I'm probably going to get myself a Citizen AQ4000-51L before I get myself a snowflake ❄️

·

Ah man, I love this (😉 before seeing the price at least) I already have a light dial SBGX in 37mm ...

4200€. Never mind I am good with what I have 🥲

·

Gorgeous watch, of course. I am sure the market will hit the price hard, but that is a pretty great daily for someone looking for an amazing 9F.

·

Yes. I like it, love it actually

·

ahh thats a little too much money for me for a quartz. but good luck with it.

Topper got three in, and one is heading my way! So much for the net outflow of watches from my collection. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Post some pics when it comes!

Ok, this is one of those watches that has to be seen in person to be appreciated, as the dial is fairly subtle (but stunning!). I can post pics, but I’m not sure I can do it justice. Love the weight, that blue second hand, and that beautiful dial!

A friend of mine works at a Grand Seiko boutique and he sent me a few shots. It really is beautiful 🤩

Yup - that’s a winner 🏆
