What is the best entry level diver?

I know it has been discussed over and over again but I wonder if Kamasu is still the best entry level diver watch considering its specs and its price tag! Have you found a better one and if yes please let us know why you think your find is better than the classic Kamasu. I am eager to read your comments and learn something new. Thanks for your contributions my friends!

PS. If only my God tier Duro had sapphire glass. It would have been at the top of the list ☝🏼

I have one! It’s kind of a tank - super durable and the movement is the most accurate of all my watches, as accurate as my Hamilton. A great buy for the cost

·

I also have a Dan Henry 1970 which is prob my fav watch in my collection, it’s a super compressor. Even more durable and very sharp looking

·

Invicta Pro series watches that use the NH35 are equal to almost any Seiko or Orient anywhere near it's price point. For under a hundred bucks you can buy a couple for the price of one Orient.

·

If the title is best, not cheapest I'd have to argue this bad boy. Tough, practical, lume monster, ISO rated, and under $300 MSRP. Super Engineer bacelet is also very 👌🏻.

The recently released MUFF Diver...no contest🤣

What about another Kamasu?

I agree about the DH 1970. It is also limited to around 2000 pieces so it makes it even more desirable. It is 100$ more expensive though but still you buy a lot of watch for the money 🤝

The Helm is an amazing watch!! I am on their waiting list hoping to get it soon. As with the Dan Henry suggested above is not as accessible to people as the Kamasu and it is also a bit more expensive (not dramatically but it is). A good suggestion nevertheless so thanks 🍻

Orients are great, I don't have one but one day will, but entry level it has to be a Duro and a sapphire glass on AliE about $20. My watch guy fitted it as don't have the tools for £5.

I own an Invicta pro diver too and so far I had no problems with it but I hear that their quality is not as good as in the past. The @MWC2020 made a video recently about them. In this case I would choose the reliability of the Kamasu even if I had to pay 100$ more.

I own 4 Duros, two of them have been moded with Sapphire. I really love them more than anything but for around 100 - 150 bucks more you can buy an automatic Kamasu. It is not easy to find these specs at that price in the market so Kamasu is still a winner in my opinion. Since quartz is more accurate compared to automatic movements someone might question what is considered a real diver watch at this level but I leave that to the divers 🤣

Muff diving can be hazardous to your health.

Look but don’t touch

Touch but don’t taste

Taste but don’t tell

And if you’re going to tell don’t do it with your mouth full 🤡

My first automatic and diver watch was Vostok. Gateway to the automatic watch world. I learnt a lot of stuff about automatics. And it fits my wrist nicely. Opted for this because duro was too big for me.

One of my first automatic watches was a Vostok too 💪🏻

Any Islander from Mark at Long Island Watch (Do a goggle search and find his web site). He makes a bunch of different ones. Just find one that makes you smile. Reasonably inexpensive, solid build, great customer service.

You've got to admit, this is damn impressive. If you actually intend to go diving. https://youtu.be/nc6qPc0Xjac

I know Mark. I have watched almost all of his videos. I bought a Bertucci field watch a while ago and the watch took ages to be delivered. I guess this is what keeps me from buying more watches from them (him). I will give it another try for sure in the future.

As someone who absolutely hates arrow hands, the Kamasu - despite its incredible value for money and the otherwise great specs - is off the cards for me. I tried the Mako II but had to return it, since the dial looked subpar compared to all my other watches in this price range. So, I've yet to find the perfect dive watch in the ~$200 range. Any suggestions?

Citizen Promaster NY0040 and other colour variants, put a new bracelet or strap and it's a monster of a diver, cheap too

I agree! The only thing it is lacking is the sapphire but nevertheless it is a great watch.

What everyone likes or dislikes is totally subjective and totally fine. I also hate watches others love but this is how things are. There are plenty of suggestions if you read the comments of other crunchers in this thread. I am sure one of them will be a perfect fit for you 🤝

Not original design nor is it anywhere close to peak horology, but when on sale, at under 50 dollars imo the invicta pro diver offers fanstatic value

I didn't have the chance to own an islander but I keep reading great comments about them. Maybe it is time to check them out myself 😀

I was aware of them but never had held one till Wind Up Watch Fair Chicago. Seeing them in person is what convinced me to try one. That and I loved the wave graphics.

I'm late to the party but I've got lots of love for the Kamasu. It's been a fantastic "beach beater" and an absolutely incredible value, especially considering it runs well within single digit tolerances. Still highly recommended!
