Your Favourite Watch Purchase This Year

As the year is coming to a close I thought I would ask what is you favourite purchase this year. I find this quite hard because I have bought and sold many watches including a Rolex and a Tudor. All that said I think the watch that stands out the most is my Christopher Ward C63 GMT. Not only is it a gorgeous watch, I managed to get a mint condition used one for a great price

In a VERY crowded field.. Cartier Tank Must Solarbeat large.

Honourable mention to the Christopher Ward C1 Bel Canto.

·

I didnt buy much this year, I was trying to save for my 40th bday watch in 2023.  I did grab a CWC early this year so thats probably my favorite.

My Junghans Spektrum. We are still in Honeymoon since a half year. It's pure passion.

·

Not much competition for me — my Steinhart OVM39, my first "serious" watch and the cornerstone of what I hope will become a small but pleasing collection starting in 2023

Mine might be the Spb 143 or 237. I have been addicted to Seiko's for a long time but love these reinterpreted models. They are over priced, but I bought them in Japan with the yen depressed, so sub $800 each.

Easy for me too. My first and only expensive watch. Tudor S&G.

·

Kind of cheating, because it was supposed to be for my 35th birthday in '21.  However, I didn't actually get it until the end of January '22, so it still counts!

G Shock, I have other much more expensive watches but love wearing this at the moment, had it around 3 months and worn it far more than any of the others, just like the fact its always accurate and you don't have to worry about it.

Unusual, a Tudor and a G-Shock in the same post. What can I say, apart from the fact I love Tudors but .....

My CW bronze Aquitaine is mine, unless my AD comes through with the Tudor Ranger before January.

·

My favourite for the year... Not just the watch but also the story behind the watch and the Habrings

7019-6020-----------37 | Cool watches, Seiko 5 sports, Seiko
Vintage Tin Fabrication - Classic Car Restoration in Guelph Ontario

Vintage seiko 5 sport JDM - 7019 movement

It was my favorite find of the year.  It was $100; by far the cheapest thing I found this year.  However it isn't as much about the price, but how it is everything I don't normally gravitate to.

  1.  Really nice 70's metal curve aesthetic. (Encapsuated bezel is werid)
  2.  Movie billing font. No shiny furniture.  (Skinny and ridiculous screened font)
  3.  Seiko 5 build. 4 o clock crown etc..
  4.  Great afternoon coffee time watch.  (Odd blue and red highlights depending on day and time)

My Sinn 556i is everything I hoped It would be!

Mine would probably be my Grand Seiko sbgx261, I've been waiting to buy it for 2 years when I was still wearing my Seiko sarb035 and after 2 months of waiting for the watch to be made and shipped from Grand Seiko Japan, I am so happy to finally have it.

Mine is a Grand Seiko. And it wasn’t an easy choice. I LOVE both almost equally.  i own an SBGA413 Shunbun 🌸 & SLGH005 White Birch. The White Birch edges ahead because of the new case design language and the phenomenal 9SA5 Hi-Beat 80 Hour movement. It’s stunning to look at through the display caseback and the dial is captivating.  GS has impressed me so much these last few months that I’ve been considering selling a couple of my Tudors to fund some more Grand Seiko‘s. I never thought I’d be lusting this much for Japanese horology.

Vacheron Constantin Overseas Self-Winding Pink Gold Bracelet & Blue Dial

LOVE VC!! I need to visit a Boutique ASAP. Too bad I don’t have one within 250 miles

I picked up my IWC in Jan, Tudor in Sep, and Grand Seiko in Nov all this year. All vastly different, I rotate each day to include my Omega, so all get mostly equal wear time. I can't pick a favorite out of them because they all have different meaning and characteristics to me.

Does the Grand Seiko get equal wrist time with the other three? Or do you find yourself saving it for smarter, more formal occasion?

Nice collection! May I ask what is the dial colour of your GS?

Straight from the GS website:

"Boshū. When the beauty of autumn is at its height.

The dial of this dress watch is in a deep burgundy color that is inspired by the rich autumn colors of Boshū, the ‘sekki’ or season when the trees that surround the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi in northern Japan change in hue and announce that winter is just around the corner."

I had 13 new watch acquisitions this year. No regrets with any of them but my favorite watch pick up of the year for me was my Norqain Night Sight.

I save it for shabbos evening/shabbos day, and other special occasions!

Zulu Time in green with leather strap.

Not perfect, but great nonetheless.

It would be perfect if you could see that movement. But otherwise, it's magnificent. Specially in that configuration. Congrats!

This one with the Seiko SPB143 a close second…

BB58 I bought right at the beginning of the year and loved it ever since. Probably one of my forever watches that I’ll hand down to my son one day.
