I already know what watches I would like to purchase. But most of them (all of them if I'm honest) are completely implausible at the moment. So fixing that would probably be better.

Forgive us writers. Sometimes we have to use it because otherwise the word "watch" is everywhere and you begin to sound a bit boring. I do agree we could use another synonym for them.

As an Omega fanboy, that rings very true. Rolex, whether we like it or not, are the benchmark for the watch industry. I don't hate their watches. I just hate the brand, if that makes sense.

I am genuinely considering Chris Ward's Sealander as my next purchase. I actually think it looks WAY better than the Rolex. And you can actually see the movement. And it's got better water resistance. And it's much cheaper. And you can actually get it. 

I'm only struggling in terms of saving a lot more for an Aquis instead which I'm definitely going to buy either way.
