WatchCrunch meetup

So I’m going to my first WatchCrunch meetup tonight in Singapore and I’m experiencing a serious case of performance anxiety… I need advice about etiquette!

  • Do I bring a few watches with me in a box?

  • Or do I just pick one watch and wear that?

  • And WHICH watch… I’m sort of inclined to a rarer Indie brand like my REC.

Help!

Lol never been but good luck!!

Bring 2 or 3. A fun one not everyone has, your favorite and a wild card

I wan to say a watch roll would maybe be best. When I wen to the meet up in NY that’s what I brought to show the group some of my mods. Take a deep breath, almost every person on Watch crunch is also super friendly in person. If you have more then 3 you want to show off then bring more then one watch roll. It didn’t mean you have to take them all out. You will be able to read the room and the vibe when you get there. Hope this helps.

It does thank you

Only been to one had like 5 watches on me, basically the whole thing was a show and tell. The people all super friendly and at least from what I can tell just the typical obnoxious people that watch collectors are 😅

·

I wear what I feel like it on that day, through when possible I go for unique, otherwise, I bring a roll of three things that hopefully not all have seen.

·

Wear an Apple Watch or a homage/clone if you want to get people talking 🤣

Otherwise, just a couple watches is fine. Relax and have fun.

Haha that’s tempting. Or just a fake?

Ok go wear both and really have a party. Spend the rest of the money on hainanese chicken rice 🤣

Oh, and a safety tip for you. If you take pictures with your phone camera, go to settings and disable the location tag and do not post a picture at the venue of the watch meet (especially on Instagram with location tag active). Yes, it's Singapore but better safe than sorry, yes?

Really??? Hadn’t even thought about that!

It's a thing. There are thieves who find their targets by trawling Instagram for posts at watch meets, concerts and stuff like that.

·

Just bring what you’re comfortable with. The guys are great. Pity I can’t make it tonight.

·

I just bring myself and maybe I’ll wear a watch… 😁🥳

·

Remember to wear some trousers. After that you’ll be fine.

IMO Just bring one watch. If you already have anxiety, don't add to it by wondering where all your watches may be.

The people you'll be meeting are humans just like you - they want you to ask questions and hear your opinions and your experiences. Everyone at that meetup wants to have an enjoyable time!

Hope it goes well and let us know how it went!

·

Don’t worry about it! Bring or not bring. It’s a meeting of affeciendos and should have no pretentiousness. Cheers 🤙

·

I want a meetup in the Netherlands

·

Oh no, I missed it…

·

All or any of those options are fine. I’ve been to one small meetup: one person wore one watch; others wore a watch, and brought either two-watch case, three- or six-watch role. A good time was had by all! 🤝

·

Bring what you love…nothing else. Whether it’s one watch or several. Share what excites you about this hobby. Enjoy the time, the company, and the journey. Anything else will minimize your experience. Now, with that said, know where you’re going and don’t expose yourself to unnecessary risk. Keep your collection close and only go if you trust the company and the location. Hope you have a great time!

·

In Singapore take what you want as it’s safe, London = g-shock

·

Nice meeting you @watch_schlicks!

·

How many have you got? Could you double wrist? Could you pocket a few? What’s your favourite, what’s your big bucks watch? Which do you think people would like? Enjoy 🍺

·

That GRAHAM is 🔥🔥🔥🔥

·

Hi Caspar. Didn't see this post before the meeting. Had I done so, I would have suggested bringing your Seiko mod. Also, I was there too but it appears I missed introducing myself to you.

Not wearing trousers allows a guy to go double wristed and still wear a third watch. That's where micro settings come in handy.

·

I think you should listen to your guts and bring your most discussion starter watch, at least I would do it

Thank you all for the excellent advice. I ended up taking 5 watches:

  • Graham Chronofighter with the zero pass strap

  • REC TTT Icon1000

  • Vortic Hamilton (which went down a storm as no one had seen a Vortic before)

  • U-Boat U1001

  • And my Junghans Chronoscope which needed new straps

Awesome evening and great chat, big thanks to the team at delugs for hosting.
