Black or White? Christopher Ward Sealander GMT 36mm

Hi all! I’m looking at picking up the 36mm Sealander GMT by Christopher Ward. Had my eyes set on this for a while and since the release of the smaller 36mm it has been a must!

My problem is the black or the white dial? Both are great in my view but I’m torn! Any views would be appreciated from the community.

Appreciate there’s a blue dial also, which looks great! But just isn’t me or my style…

If anyone has one, feel free to share the pics on wrist would love to see it!

I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. That said, I find black dials easier to wear daily, but that might just be my own weird quirk.

·

I personally like the white but not by much, you can’t go wrong with either one. It may depend what you already have in your collection

I’m edging towards the white as don’t have anything like it in the collection. Been pretty safe with darker colours in the past

It time to go with color, look at my last piece received yesterday

I've owned the white dial for 1 week now. It is by far more versatile than a black dial. I went with the bader bracelet due to the on the fly adjustments and of course the quick release makes this a strap monster. #sealandergmt

For me, I'd get white because I already have black dial watches and the white stands out distinctly to me.

·

I'm not going to be any help, sorry! They both look great! I will say this; I was torn between getting a white and or black dial SMP. I chose the white because at the time they were harder to find and the dial looked very clean.

That said I wouldn't mind a black dial, but I'm extremely satisfied with the white dial so for now I'll stick with the one I have.

Pick the one you "love" the most and you won't regret the decision. Good luck and congratulations in advance Vish.

·

I would pick the black dial myself as I find black dials easier to read.

·

I’m looking to get the 39mm in white. I’m loving the way it looks and everyone I’ve heard from has really enjoyed owning theirs.

White

·

White dial. It’s not even close.

·

Black.

·

This is like asking chocolate or vanilla.

There is no wrong answer.

·

I handled both as groomsmen gifts. The black one was good but the white one was next level.

·

White, it look more interesting

Do you like colourful straps? White works better with more summery colourful straps IMO. White is inherently more versatile to me for that very reason. You can put black or brown leather on a white dial to dress it up, keep it on the bracelet for the GADA vibes, and put on colourful NATO/perlons to dress it down for a very summery look. Black dial can't do the last bit as well for me. But, if colourful straps aren't your thing, black is just a tad bit more sombre and handsome to me.

·

I ordered the white dial this week and can’t wait. I only chose white because I have quite a few black dials and wanted something different. I don’t think you could go wrong with either though. Good luck with the decision!

No wrong choice here mate. Considering it myself (but in blue, so I'm torn on the size), the white is more versatile and will let you play with colorfoul straps. It also will make the watch look slightly bigger, which can be a good or bad thing regarding your wrist size. I wasn't considering the black but I have to admit it would probably be my choice if there was these only 2 colors. It is so understated and dressy with all dedicated to readability. The indexes pops crazy on a dark dial. Finally, i watched several reviews on YT, and something I never consider was that the black looks less tp an Explorer II homage than the white (due to the polar being always pictured everywhere). I personally don't see the white as an homage (in the copy way), but you never know.

·

I was having the same dilemma for the last couple of weeks! They both are awesome!

Finally, I ordered the black version, which is currently on the way. First, I find black more suitable for everyday casual wear. Second, I love black part of the gmt hand over the black dial which makes orange a bit floating

·

I like the black better, since the bezel is thin i feel like the white dial looks a bit too big proportionally.

·

I had a 39mm white one I sold because legibility concerns. Lack of substantial contrast of the hands against the dial. Should I buy one again I'd get the black version.

·

Both look great, for me though it’s the white with that lovely pop of orange. I’d love to have this watch.

·

Go white. I had a 39 and it's so crisp. Might have to pick one up again as I sold it to fund my Solaris.

I had thr white before, but sold it because I find the white translucent and does not look good under the sun. But that is just mu opinion. I would go for other watches if you like white or silver.

White

White is the flavor of this season. I am not sure that in 2025 you will see a white watch in the same way.

·

I’d pick the black one but I’m also sort of „owner“ biased with the SBGN003

I’d get the white (but 3 hander) on the bader bracket (lovely on the fly adjustable clasp) as I’m on the look out for a white dial watch. Slightly off topic the problem is I’m stuck between these two and can’t make up my mind.

They're both great, flip a coin!
