Hey guys,

I am a new member here and I guess I have a very different daily watch that I wear. I use a Garmin Tactix 7 Pro, I feel like this isn't a watch guy's watch but I really enjoy using it and love the functionally. Im curious to know what you guys think of this less conventional watch. I do also like diver, chronos, pilot, vintage and Casio watches.

Cheers!

In my mind it's horses for courses, so for some tasks Garmin makes the best watches.

Personally, my daily is an automatic three hander with date, but I have a phone or computer close by much of the time, so extra connectivity isn't important for me.

Any watch is a good one welcome!!

It's a watch and you like it therefore your voice and opinions are welcome.

Welcome to WC!

If it counts time, it's a watch or clock.

Enjoy that watch!

Cheers!

Can't go wrong with the automatic. For me I do a couple of outdoor activities a week and also weight training so fitness device kinda fits my lifestyle. I also do like the quick glance notifications to see if they are important or not so I can decide to use my phone or to ignore them.

I have been trying to find the perfect automatic watch that will last decades and will be super versatile for me. 2 options I like are the Explorer 2 and the Tudor Black Bay Pro.

I think Garmin makes the best smart fitness watch by far. I love mine but also have some Swiss watches as well!

What you like is a matter of personal preference so don't mind what others say. YOU DO YOU!!!!!! There are to many folks out there who bash on others because it doesn't fit their personal taste. It's really disheartening when I read post that are so negative and insulting to others. Watches are just like wine or food...... some people prefer a light and crisp white wine while others prefer a heavy bold red varietal. Some like spicy food, while others prefer sweet or sour flavors. If you love smartwatches, GOOD FOR YOU! I personally don't own one but 5 out of 10 people I know who are watch enthusiasts own and wear smartwatches.

Welcome man! While I'm a huge fan of mechanical pieces, I am also into lots of tech. Wearables have always had an interesting place in my collection/wearing journey I feel. I've had the original Apple Watch (twice haha), multiple fit bits, jawbone wearable, and some other smaller brands too. I love the connectivity, but also hate not wearing a mechanical due to my fascination with the movements and micro mechanics behind them.

My brother-in-law is big in the Garmin ecosystem and has been trying to convince me to join him for some time. I've thought about it and continue to quite often. Just can't be that guy who wears two watches haha Maybe one day I'll find the right balance! Def wouldn't mind being convinced by another Garmin user on how great they are to push be over the edge and go for it. Cheers!

You are absolutely right, there is no perfect watch for everyone and the most important part is that you like what you wear. Although I do love my smartwatch, I really want to get my first real mechanical watch. I did have a swatch from when I was younger but that doesn't count haha.

Cheers

I have the same issue haha, I want to benefits of a smartwatch like the connectivity, tracking and on my particular one a flashlight, but I also love the looks, longevity, presence and the engineering of a traditional watch. I think its crazy how there are so many moving parts in a watch and the tiniest about of energy in a spring can keep it going for so long. That is why I do want to get my first mechanical watch someday, I'm just looking for the perfect one for me.

I too use to have an Apple watch but have switched over to Garmin because it was a bit too connected and too high maintenance. I didn't like charging it every night, the durability and didn't need to call on my wrist. Thats where I think Garmin is better for me, I can get a month of battery life, still receive quick notifications, find my phone support and it much more rugged.

I can't tell you which watch brand is the best because everyone will like different things but for my uses, I love my Garmin and also love learning about other watches.

Cheers!

Once you go down that rabbit hole and develop an interest in mechanical watches, there is no end. ;-) It's a never ending battle to "scratch that itch" once the honeymoon stage wears off on a new timepiece. That feeling of excitement with the purchase of a new watch and going through that honeymoon is addictive but nonetheless very satisfying. There are tons of nice budget mechanical watches out there so I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding one, or two, or 10 that you might like. Of course, if you've got deep pockets and lots of cash burning a hole in your pocket, there are lots of luxury and extremely pricey mechanical timepieces out there that will put a nice dent in your pocketbook. The one that sent me down deep into that rabbit hole was a Hamilton field watch.
