They are Chronograph, they are colourful, they are fun, they are quartz and I love it both... but I just need one

Hey everyone,

Now that the crazy rush about the Swatch was settled and I can think more clearly, I came to the conclusion that is cool to have a fun/"affordable" quartz chronograph in my collection.

I would like to read about your opinion about these watches. If they are worth the purchase, spacially about the Farer, I found just a few reviews on the internet and it is twice more expensive....

I know there are many other options like Dan Henry, and Lorier just to mention a few but I am much more interested in the Farer or Swatch

You can get the Farer repaired if anything goes wrong and it can give decades of service.

The Swatch is pretty much buy it and chuck it in the landfill if it needs any service more than a battery change.

Love a colorful chrono! In quartz I imagine there are a ton of awesome options out there. I can’t speak to either watch but taking a step back, I’d say fairly confidently you’re probably getting a better made/spec’d watch with the Farer. The MoonSwatch on the other hand will have greater brand ”prestige” (for lack of a better word) and heritage. In the end, really just matters what you value more… forget what others may think.

If you’re into colorful chronos, take a look Straton Watch Co - the owner @KyleSchut is here on WC too and I am sure has a bunch of wonderful options he could share and hopefully quartz. I’d also suggest Roue watches - specifically their TPS model. Its the most colorful of the bunch and has a similar tri-register layout.

An ordinary Swatch chrono is cheaper with better strap and both non repairable.

the other is a real watch and priced as such.

·

I don’t know much about the Farer in terms of quality, but I really like the way it looks: Fun, colorful, racing inspired design and strap. And of course I haven’t touched a SwOmega yet. I’d find a way to keep both, tbh.

·

How about the Bulova Lunar Pilot?

·

Get the Farer!...becuz I don't think they'll make them forever. Plus it's a flyback quality movement. The strap it comes with is top notch too! Dang it, I want one now.

·

farer all day long, it is looks nicer than a swatch

·

Farer all day long, the Swatch is a disposable watch which can't be repaired and easily replaced, where as the Farer will last a life time and the build quality is far superior.

It all comes down to your budget and what you actually like, buy the watch for yourself not for what others think. At the end of the day you will be the only one that takes note of the watch on you're wrist, not others.

You can get great deals on Tissot quartz chronos. Just throwing that cat among the pigeons.

Or for the price of the Farer you can buy 3 MoonSwatches... MoonsSwatch... MoonSwatchii?

Put one on your wrist on even days, the other on your wrist on odd days and keep the third tucked away to flog it on eBay in 2 years time and buy a new Farer.

Profit. 😜

I have the Farer that you have pictured.  I enjoy it immensely. If you're a spec. freak, like me, you'll like that it's a flyback chrono and that it's a spit seconds timer.  I enjoy the colorway as well.  It may cost you more but I think you get a lot of bang for those bucks.  BTW I'm completely smitten with the moonswatch too.  Hope this helps.

Thanks, @bevelwerks. There are plenty of options for colorful Chronos, another brand that I love is Nezumi (https://www.nezumistudios.com/). I am more inclined to choose the Farer...

Hey @sasq_watch, That Bulova is gigantic to me. I can't understand why Bulova doesn't make a 40mm version of it (or maybe a 39mm, a guy can dream after all)...

Hey @SlowJamz, Yeah, I saw a review from Jody on "One More Watch" and he mentioned that lack of movements... I am more inclined to choose the Farer...

Thanks, @complication. O look into Tissot Chronos but, for me, they are a bit more vanilla, there are not much going on there. they are also too big to me. But thanks for your suggestion!

Thanks, @In_awe, It is hard to find real owners of Farer watches in the wild. If there is any chance to post a "real" photo of the watch, just to look in real life, it will be immensely appreciated. Thanks!

Fantastic!! Thank you very much! Now I definitely have a problem 😜

·

No problem.   If you find that the solution is to pick up a Farer, I'd like to see some shots....if you don't mind. (I've got designs on one of their monopushers for myself)

·

Go for one! I own the blue Ainsdale and it is one of the watches with the most wristtime. Farer absolutely nailed it with the colors.

Plus it wears really comfy because it is that balance between light enough and yet beeing build worthy. Plus it is quite thin... which one is your favorite?

I am very interested into the Elvington (the one on the photos)
