Your opinion on Varon Chiri?

Have you guys seen the recent video from JOMW about Varon Chiri?

I decided to back up the project and buy one, and i'm curious about how you guys feel about backing an indogogo watch like this.

There are very few reviews on the internet, maybe i'll review it here when i get it.

They look like decent watches but I have always been, and always will be, hesitant to pay for something that doesn't exist yet.

The watch doesn't seem to have any character it certainly is not an interesting dial. If I had to choose Id choose the turquoise dial over the black one for sure. Their "g-lock"  just doesn't seem to fit on that type of watch and is really only a pale copy of the Rolex glide lock. While it has a miyota movement a lot of the parts are from China. And that crown is way too big. The watch back leaves much to be desired in both form and function.. I'm assuming that will change in production at least I would hope so. Also $420 seems an awful lot to pay for this type of watch. Yes I know manufacturing costs are expensive in Korea but if it was me I'd pass on it.

Yes, i admit it is quite a risk. But i took a chance, we'll see!

I think the turquoise one is good looking, but I think it would be a lot better on a strap instead of a bracelet. Something about the polished mid-links of the bracelet just looks off to me

·

From the photo I think it's a nice looking watch. I'd be interested in seeing one in person before forming an opinion.

·

I think the watch head is nice, but I'm not sold on the bracelet. That said, I dislike all bracelets...

·

It’s a nice looking watch, but honestly it seems really generic. The logo looks like it’s telling me I can re-download it from iCloud if I want.

·

If you like it then it’s worth a punt!

·

There's nothing wrong with a big blue sunburst dial.

·

I quite like it. I thought Jody was a bit harsh. It has a very good movement, good size and an enthusiatic watchmaker it would seem. Good on you for taking a chance. It's not as if it's tens of thousands of dollars.

·

I'm fine with Kickstarter and Indiegogo as I have backed numerous campaigns...

On the topic of this specific watch...as indicated in Jody's video...it does not make me go "wow"...it actually makes me go "meh"...but that's just my personal preferences.

If you like it then go for it. Price is a tad high for what you get, but hopefully the quality will stack up against the price. I think I would purchase a Lorier at that price point before buying one of these.

Good luck!

Seconding @ChronoGuy. It's ok but nothing to make it stand out. Me, I'd put that Korean minute marker design (like the one shown in JOMW) on every colouway, use a plain butterfly clasp for now and trim the crown a mil or two.

Also call it something else. Blazer, snort. It screams salaryman tryhard on a budget.

·

Not going to ever buy a KS watch. Nope.

·

Since they are now actually being produced, and the owner gave me a 10% discount, I placed an order for the Ice Mint Korea Edition.

We shall see...

·

i received mine. I'm very pleased with it!

·

I was initially displeased as it feels a bit cheap but the dial is absolutely stunning.

Was planning to flip it but am going to give it a few weeks' wear. It fills a spot for dress style watch at present and imagine will hold onto it for the time being.

Will know after a few days wearing it.

·

After one day, I am impressed. Extremely comfortable, wears very well and the dial is absolutely stunning.

Will do well as a sporty dress watch
