What's your favorite case shape?

Without a doubt, the most common case shape for watches is the basic round shape. While there is probably good reason for that, I find myself drawn to other case shapes, such as the tonneau shape of my Girard Perregaux Richeville chrono (I can't afford an RM), or the rectangular shape of my JLC Reverso Squadra Hometime. I'd also really like to add a Cartier Santos to my collection, due in large part to its square shaped case.

I'm curious as to what case shapes appeal to you, and whether or not you feel that non circular shapes limit the versatility of a watch.

circular is my favorite. I loved the looks of the Monaco until I tried it on. My wrist just isn’t big enough for anything but a round watch.

When I wrote my post, I had forgotten all about the square shape of the Monaco.  I personally prefer the "rounded square" shapes, like the Cartier Santos over the very angular shape of the Monaco. I agree that the square shape makes it wear much larger than a round watch of a similar diameter.

Call me boring but I prefer the round/circular, haha. I do lIke the rectangular/tank case shape as well but my watch box is filled with O’s.

Almost all of my watches have a round dial except for my Reverso. I’d like to ad a Santos to my collection. Both have square dial and case which I like and gives a nice mix in the collection. But also with round dials there is a variaty. Right now I really like the C-shaped case. The dial is still round but the package becomes a bit different. Wears more substantial than formal size. Not every ones cup of tea. There is a lot of Seiko divers with appealing case shapes. Nice in pictures but, for me, too large.

Lately I’ve been all about the Monnin 844 case. As a friend has described it, like a sub and a turtle had a baby 😄

So we’ll say somewhere in between circular and tonneau 😉

I had also forgotten all about the Cartier Crash. That definitely has to win the prize for the weirdest case shape. Is that your "Dali" wearer ? 😀

I like cushion cases the most but my collection is 95% round.

The Santos is beautiful on the wrist.  Tried one on and it is one of the best looking watches on the wrist I have ever seen.

I'm hoping to be able to try a Santos in the near future. We don't have a Cartier AD where I live, but one of the members of our local watch enthusiasts group just picked up large Santos and I'm hoping to be able to check it out at an upcoming get together.
