Its the 321 for me. I might have even chocked uncle Joe and stuffed the garlic bread in his mouth as a cover up for that watch.
I have an old watch case in my closet with some old watches and there is a 22yr old Citizen Sport watch in it that my wife gave me when we were dating. You just reminded me of it. Think I’ll get it out tomorrow.
Remove from the 12o’clock position. 1. Thats the side your dive extension is on. 2. It will line up the opposite links better. 3. You I’ll be able to remove the half links over time if needed.
I love the brand. I have a Jazzmaster day/date auto. it’s my dressy watch so it doesn’t get a lot of rotation but I purchased it as a reminder of when I finally finished my degree. 
You’re lucky to have such a hard decision. I would go with the Tudor. I’ve tried the Aqua Terra and didn’t like the fit. The Tudor will age better.
How about Hamilton. Plenty of great options under 1k with mechanical movements Great quality as well.
