Nivada F77

I had never heard of the Nivada F77 until I had seen some posts about it here on WC. After seeing those posts and checking out the Nivada web site, I noticed that they were offering a new dial color which they refer to as "Brown Smoked". Between the somewhat uncommon dial color and the general design of the watch, I decided that it might be a good fit for my collection. With previous versions having been sold out, FOMO caused me to order one as soon as they became available, back in mid September. Their web site indicated that the first orders would be shipped in late October, and true to their word, the watch was shipped October 26th and was delivered today, November 1st.

The dial has a really interesting pattern that my wife said reminded her of snakeskin, and I have to agree. The fume effect on the dial adds a lot of interest, with the appearance changing depending on the way the light strikes it. The finishing is really nice, and the watch is very comfortable, although the lug to lug is near the limit for my 17cm wrist.

It's always a gamble buying watches without being able to see them in person first, but when you live in a place where there aren't an abundance of ADs, it's a chance that must often be taken. Based on initial impressions, this was a gamble that paid off.

I watched TGV's review of three watches, including the 77 back in April or May. Decided that was a must have and recieved my Blue ND back in June. I have to say it is a great little watch. Classy but restrained and so far keeps good time.

Just a really fine looking watch and great pricing. I'm looking into one myself. I've loved the blue dial but your smoked dial is wonderful!

I was initially planning on getting the blue dial version, but opted for the brown smoked because I liked the fume dial effect, and I didn't have any other brown dials in my collection. I really like blue dials, and have others in my collection, so going for something different seemed like the best way to go. While I was waiting for mine to arrive, I discovered the Ocarat special edition blue dial, which has the same fume effect, with a lighter blue in the center. If I had been aware of that one when ordering, I'm not sure which direction I would have gone, as I feel the Ocarat special edition is gorgeous.
