Daini Seiko King Quartz - The quartz brother of the King

Yes, what can I say?

I saw it, I loved it, I couldn't resist and then I bought it. I just can't say why I'm so fond of the old seikos. especially the more special vintage models just seem to be something else. This Quarzt model also seems to have almost a soul. At least a strong character! That's why my little "museum" will probably get a few more models. So much for the year's resolution 2023.

About the watch:

The King Quartz brand debuted in 1975 alongside the Grand Quartz brand. It is comparable to King Seiko and was below Seiko Superior and Seiko Grand Quartz in the brand's hierarchy. The King Quartz was discontinued in 1985 along with the Grand Quartz line. The quality is still incredibly good and wears enormously comfortably with only <0.9mm overall thickness. It only has a monthly deviation from +2 seconds per month. Mine is from 1978.

Very nice, the King Quartz & Grand Quartz watches are great value & quality & very under valued. I have a Grand Quartz 4843-8010 from 1977 & the only issue I've had with it is finding a replacement seal for the battery hatch. Mine gains about 4 seconds a month. These make good watches for someone just getting into vintage!

I’m with you man, I really like older Seikos. I recently got a Lord Quartz (I don’t have the energy to figure out how that fits into the scheme), and I think it’s pretty great. One thing hasn’t changed, Seiko always made too many watches at too many price points. I think Seiko, King Seiko, Grand Seiko was plenty.
