Watch catalogues!

I first got into watches at the peak of lockdown, and that meant i couldnt go into stores and check out watches in person. I then found out that alot of brands send out catalogues for free! I reached out to countless brands to request for a physical catalogue, and these are the ones that i received! What surprised me is A Lange & Sohne and Nomos, whom sent me their collection book straight from Germany. I think collecting catalogues is also one way of enjoying this hobby for free! Anyone else has a collection of catalogues? Lets see them!

They make great decor! Care to share some pics?

Nice tip, guess I will give it a try some time

I went into Tag Heuer for a browse as my wife loves the aqua racer, and they just offered a catalogue out of now where so I have the 22/23 catalogue 😂

I was planning on going into more stores to see if other brands would do the same….

But that’s neat that some brands are sending out from abroad!

I have been casually collecting watch catalogues for decades, predictably Patek catalogues are hard bound and belong on the best book cases, since I am a long time Breitling and Panerai fan might have acquired too many over the years, interesting reading, displays trends of the period. The Rolex head offices here in Toronto is a beautiful facility that once was a horse stable for wealthy citizens worth a visit if you are into Rolex and history of local architecture. I was picking up a Datejust after a full service when I decided to pick up both a Rolex and Tudor catalogue from two piles on the front desk guarded by a silent gloomy secretary. I knew the printed materials were for the taking but still made a courtesy request. She sort of slowly nodded her consent but mumbled that most real clients did not need a catalogue until I said that I was picking up a watch dropped off for servicing. She must have thought I was a delivery guy or some other flunky, lol. Pretty certain that she noticed my Omega SMP when I was reaching for the catalogues which I returned to the pile after the technician delivered my watch.

I did the same thing during lockdown and got some awesome catalogues. How did you get Vacheron? I couldn't find a real persons email address who was able to helpe and the generic contact forms didn't get me anywhere. The Lange catalogue is like its own work of art!

·

Such a good idea! Reckon they would still do it?

Some brands that did not send a catalogue told me that they switched completely to E-catalogues, but still provide them in store. Im sure there are many brands that still do it though!

They are all free! Just be nice in the message you send and give them your address and hopefully they are able to send one over to you!

Do you by chance know if there's a digital copy of it on their website?

Unfortunately, Lange doesn’t send out catalogs anymore. They changed it to a digital version that they sent to your email inbox. 😞😟

Thats unfortunate!

This reminded me that I requested an omega catalog about 6 months ago, still no signs of it in the mail. 🤣

·

Love the cozy and inviting mid-century vibe of coffee table books strewn about the living room. 👍

·

Hmm, interesting idea. I have a few old manuals for various timepieces, though no catalogues... yet.

·

I have Rolex, Grand Seiko and Glashutte Original catalogs - all hard cover with some very interesting content. Good to flip through ant evening 👍😃

·

Interesting. I think catalogues have been de-emphasized in light of social media but I am old enough to remember my first visit to the AP boutique in NYC when it first opened and leaving with all sorts of interesting books and catalogues

Well i'm not close to the archive in the moment, but i have catalogues from Nomos, Union, Omega, Rolex, Tudor, Richard Mile, Hamilton, Oris, Tag Heuer, Glashütte, Longines, A.Lange und Söhne, Blancpain. I own the latest Lettres de Brassus since 2017 (if i remember correctly) and two yearly magazins from traditional juwelers and watchmakers over here im Germany. So yes, it's an archive.
