Broad Arrow - just unboxed!

Hey @all!

First "real" post here ... I just unboxed my "new" (and now third) Speedy, this time a "Broad Arrow", ref 3594.50. Produced ca 1998 until 2003 as the first attempt of Omega, to create a kind of re-issue of the very first Speedmaster CK2915 from 1957.

The case size (and of course the movement) is not historically correct. Omega used the case of the then current Moonwatch including the crownguards and the movement 1861 (I wasn't aware, that former Omega calibers had no hacking seconds - my Automatic Date with cal 1164 and my 3861 has!).

On the other hand, the dial without the addition "Professional" and of course the most striking feature, the set of hands, is quite close to the original. Logically, there is no reference to any space activities on the back, which was not an issue in 1957 either.

I'm still trying to find out the exact year of manufacture. It is definitely a late model as the clasp of the bracelet has the two pushers.

Due to the name "Speedmaster '57 Replica" given by Omega at the time, which is not really popular with collectors, the watch is still relatively affordable today.

There are now various old and new collections that are based on the watch from 1957 (made better than the first attempt, but also outside my price range).

No matter how, I love this somewhat unusual model and hope that it will accompany me for a long time.

What do Speedy fans here think of the (almost vintage) mix of old and new from the first CK2915 resurrection?

Welcome to Watch Crunch and Enjoy! This is a great watch! I don't have helpful specs/details. I do remember these pieces when they came out. I think the nostalgic movement of the Speedie hadn't truly set in yet. This watch has a simple beauty that is unique in a world of heavily printed Speedie dials. The crystal is great as well

Welcome! That’s a beautiful watch! I’m a big fan of the stainless bezel and broad arrow combination. The leather strap looks great on this - is it stock or aftermarket?
